We are delighted to announce that Destination Ann Arbor has achieved Destination Verified status, becoming the first city in Michigan to do so. We're thrilled to have partnered with Destination Ann Arbor this past year to enhance accessibility. Celebrating this important milestone last week with local partners, advocates, and officials was an inspiring experience that truly highlights our shared commitment to the community. ?Exciting News! ? We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with Expedia Group to map over 300 hotels across top destinations like Paris, Barcelona, and London—within just 3 months! ??? ??????Our global team of mappers is gathering detailed accessibility information through our Accessibility Mapping System (AMS), ensuring that travelers with disabilities have access to accurate and reliable details before booking their stay. This information will soon be available on wheeltheworld.com, empowering travelers to make informed choices with confidence. Why is this important? Because accessibility is not a one-size-fits-all solution, yet that’s often how hotels approach it. Having access to detailed information is power, enabling travelers with disabilities to make informed decisions that suit their specific needs — because every individual is different. Thanks to Expedia Group’s support, we’ve been able to connect with leading hotels, selecting the most relevant and accessible accommodations. Together, we’re breaking down barriers and making travel more inclusive for everyone. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue making the world more accessible, one hotel at a time! ???? #InclusiveTravel #AccessibleTravel #ExpediaGroup #WheelTheWorld #TravelForAll #TravelAccessibility #Partnerships #WheelchairTravel #AccessibleTourism

We have impacted around 16,000 members of our community to travel the world. Our CEO, Alvaro Silberstein, shares some thoughts on that ?
It was 2018 when my co-founder, Camilo Navarro, and I started having conversations with angel investors about Wheel the World. We had an initial concept—an adaptive adventure in Patagonia—a few travelers who had experienced it, and a pitch deck outlining our plan to make millions of travelers with disabilities explore thousands of destinations ?? ?? There was one meeting with an investor that really frustrated me: - “How many travelers have experienced the Wheel the World trip to Patagonia?” she asked. - “We’ve already had 10 travelers,” I responded proudly, considering this was a groundbreaking adventure no one in a wheelchair had done before we created it. - “But that’s nothing!” she reacted. ?? I was upset by her response, feeling like she was undermining our initial traction, especially since we hadn’t even built an MVP of what we envisioned. We quickly realized it would be impossible to raise investment with what we had achieved so far, so we had to get creative and resourceful to bootstrap our company, applying for grants and generating revenue through our initial product and other sources as well. We did that for two years until we were able to raise our seed round, backed by real traction that validated our growth plan. Today, we’re having 400+ monthly travelers and growing 10% MoM, but it still feels like it’s not enough. Our vision remains the same as it was in 2018: to make millions of people travel to thousands of accessible destinations. If she had invested, her investment would be worth 20x today. If you're starting your own startup, here are a few key takeaways ?? - Funding is not the only way to get started. Be creative and resourceful to make or find the money you need. - Don't get demotivated if your initial traction is small. The key is to be effective in achieving constant growth. - Your current traction will never feel like enough, but that's a good thing! It means you're ambitious and striving for more.
