We believe the world has spent enough time sugar coating, it is time we get real, confront and be SOUR.
关于我们
We are a hybrid design studio with the mission of addressing social and urban problems through sustainable and inclusive methodologies. While the word "SOUR" is a play on our mission to address social and urban issues, the meaning describes our attitude. We don't shy away from challenges. We might stick out with an opinion or the questions we ask, but we embrace the discomfort. Like the biological process of sour dough making, we take our time: to research, synthesize and ideate in order to generate data-inspired and purposeful design solutions. We believe the world has spent enough time sugar coating, it is time we get real, confront and be SOUR.

Great design doesn't happen without Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in mind. Last October, we joined forces with?Disability:IN, the leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide, the?SVA MFA Interaction Design program, and?Canva, one of the world’s best-known tools for design and publishing, to host an Iconathon community design workshop dedicated to creating new icons that help fill critical content gaps around accessibility and inclusion. Today, we're thrilled to share the new Accessibility icon collection, available to all for free as a public domain set. We'd like to thank the brilliant team of volunteer designers, community members, and advocates who helped bring this Iconathon to life – including consultants and keynote speakers?Pinar Guvenc?from?SOUR,?Allyce T. and?Paul Slack Ciaccia?from?Disability:IN, and Jakob Hytken for providing valuable insights into designing for accessibility and disability representation. Final vectors were rendered by designer Elisabetta Calabritto. Today on the podcast, we have the pleasure of speaking with Alex Adams, an Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology. Alex's research focuses on designing medical devices and health technologies with equity as a guiding principle. His journey to this role is unique; starting as a musician, he transitioned into technology and health after discovering a passion for how electronics could influence sound and, ultimately, health outcomes. At Georgia Tech, he leads a diverse team dedicated to addressing gaps in the healthcare system, particularly for underserved populations. In this conversation, Alex discusses the systemic issues contributing to health disparities, including geographic and socioeconomic factors that limit access to care. He emphasizes the importance of leveraging technology, such as telehealth and continuous monitoring through smartphones, to empower individuals in managing their health. By focusing on low-cost solutions that fit into people's daily lives, Alex aims to create more equitable healthcare access and improve health outcomes for all communities. #SOUR #beSOUR?#design?#sustainability?#social?#impact? #technology?#healthtechnology?#healthtech #whatswrongwithpodcast
