WIIP’s Career Trek to the Nation’s Capital ??? Last Friday, Wharton Impact Investing Partners led a trek to Washington, DC to meet with some of the leading voices in impact investing in the nation’s capital. Our group met with a mix of early-stage equity inventors, multilaterals, short-term bridge lenders, and more to get a robust picture of the state of impact investing broadly in Washington, DC. We are incredibly grateful for all the professionals who met with us and shared their passion and advice. We are pleased to introduce the Wharton Impact Investing Partners Associate Class of 2024-2025! Throughout the year, the 6 sector teams will develop industry theses, source and diligence early-stage companies driving change in the areas of Education, Environment & Sustainability, Financial Inclusion, Food & Nutrition, Health & Wellness, and Urban Development. This year’s Associate Class consists of 36 students from The Wharton School and the Carey Law School and Weitzman School of Design. We are excited to see what they are able to accomplish this year, as well as their growth to become the next generation of impact investing leaders. Wharton Impact Investing Partners (WIIP) is a student-led initiative aimed at developing the Impact Investing field by training sector-focused student teams on the process leading up to investments in Seed and Series A companies. We provide comprehensive training from experienced investors in the field, as well as exclusive access to resources and mentorship from both students and alumni to guide Associates to white space investment opportunities. From deal sourcing and calls with founders to conducting due diligence and writing investment memos, WIIP has equipped me with new skillsets to explore my interests beyond scientific research. As part of the financial inclusion team, I’ve stepped outside of my healthcare background and learned about a new sector by collaborating with my Wharton peers." ??
