Our Core Values PROMISE: We believe in infinite possibilities. We know all women and girls have the innate potential and power to succeed. We believe that leadership by women and girls in all sectors makes a positive difference in communities and society. COMMUNITY: We understand that advancing women’s economic self-sufficiency is complex, requiring the insights, investments, and commitment of many. We believe that we can achieve more in partnership with others. LEARNING: We seek to learn from our grantees, strategic partners, and others to inform our research and to identify needs. We believe mutual and continuous learning will not only advance progress toward our vision but also stimulate innovative solutions to issues impacting women and girls. EQUITY AND INCLUSION: We strive to understand the intersection of identities and to address structural systems of inequity in the pursuit of equity. We believe that deliberately including diverse perspectives in our work and in our decision-making will lead to better results. STEWARDSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY: We act with integrity, look back and look forward on important issues, practice a bias for action, focus on systemic change, and measure our results. We hold ourselves accountable to our mission, our donors, our stakeholders, and the communities we serve.

  • Catch our dynamic President and CEO Renee Ferrufino on KUSA-TV, 9NEWS Colorado & Company discussing International Women's Day and the impact of The Women's Foundation of Colorado! In this powerful segment, Renee shares our mission, the significance of International Women's Day, and extends a warm invitation to join us for Advocacy Day at the Capitol next Wednesday, March 12. • POLICY IN ACTION: Last week, our President & CEO Renee Ferrufino testified in support of HB25-1168, a critical bill providing housing justice for victim-survivors of gender-based violence. With domestic violence being a leading cause of housing instability in Colorado and victims often facing impossible choices between safety and shelter, this legislation strengthens protections by: ? Clarifying lease-break provisions ? Protecting security deposits ? Offering repayment options ? Expanding eviction defenses "When victim-survivors are able to stay in their homes and protect their financial security, this creates a more stable environment for themselves and their children," Renee testified. At WFCO, we recognize that gender-based violence intersects with housing insecurity and economic vulnerability. As organizations supporting victim-survivors face funding challenges, policy solutions like HB25-1168 are more critical than ever. And thank you to Colorado Poverty Law Project and Colorado Coalition for the Homeless for their incredible work/advocacy on this bill!

  • A big thank you to Latino Community Foundation of Colorado for presenting on their newcomer resource mapping project to The Women's Foundation's fundholders as well as Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) and Casa De Paz for their conversation about responding to the Trump administration’s threats of mass deportation, harsher enforcement policies, and escalating anti-immigrant rhetoric. The Women’s Foundation of Colorado's President and CEO Renee Ferrufino was proud to announce a $7,500 grant to CIRC in support of our immigrant and newcomer neighbors at our event this week at Museo de las Americas. • Louise Myrland, WFCO vice president of programs, accepted the 2025 advocacy award on behalf of the Equal Pay Coalition at this morning's "State of Women in Business" hosted by Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce. Along with 9to5 and COLORADO WOMEN'S BAR ASSOCIATION, The Women's Foundation of Colorado led the passage of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act in Colorado. Today, our state leads the nation in pay transparency and is closing the pay gap 3x faster than other states. Colorado women earn nearly $3,000 more per year than before the bills passed. March 25 is Equal Pay Day 2025. Employers, make sure you are complying with the law, and jobseekers and employees, make sure your rights are being protected. • 'When it comes to fiscal issues, many people won't even vote because they're confusing.' That's why our VP of Communications Lisa Christie became a Tax Ambassador with Colorado Fiscal Institute last fall. What she learned? Colorado's tax system is literally upside down: Those earning $100K+ made 43% of state income but paid only 36.7% of taxes. In her latest blog, Lisa breaks down: ?? How TABOR impacts our $750M state budget shortfall ?? Why tax credits are putting millions back in families' pockets ?? The disproportionate impact on Black women and Latinas ?? Ways you can advocate for an equitable tax code Ready to dive deeper? Read Lisa's full analysis, and if you're inspired, the next Tax Ambassador program starts Feb 27! https://lnkd.in/gchjh8-H
