What an amazing week at WezOps! ??
Aren't you happy that it's already Friday? ???? Here's a quick look at what I've been working on this week at WezOps: ? Client 1: Currently developing a custom web application that combines employee and sales data to help managers, directors, and VPs make informed decisions. Four weeks into the development and seeing great progress! ? Client 2: After launching a careers website last week (with a very happy client!), they've asked me to create their entire website. First time doing this in my professional career—exciting! Also, implementing Recruitics to boost their recruiting process. ? Client 3: Greenhouse stage cleanup and Offer optimization. This is an enjoyable project for me; I love working on these kinds of initiatives! ? Client 4: Power Automate support. A team member left, and their flows stopped working. I fixed the connections and adjusted the flows to get things back on track. It's been a busy week, but I love the variety of projects I get to work on! Some thoughts about burnout ??
Have you ever experienced burnout? I definitely think that burnout is something most of us have experienced at some point - especially in fast paced work environments or as business owners. My days start early—around 6 am—and balancing work, family, and personal projects can be a lot. Thankfully, I’ve found a rhythm that keeps me going, and I wanted to share it here. Firstly, if I don't have early meetings, I start my mornings with a quick run or bike ride, followed by a shower and a walk with my dog. It’s my way of easing into the day and giving myself some energy before work. On the days I feel like it, I make myself a cup of coffee while my laptop boots up. I try to keep coffee as a treat three times a week, so it feels special. One thing that helps me stay organized is prioritizing my week in advance. Every Monday, I sit down with my notebook and write down the key tasks for the week, marking due dates and the effort needed for each. It might sound old-school, but having it on paper helps me stay focused. I always start with the quick wins—the tasks I can finish fast—usually between 9 am and 12 pm. Getting those out of the way gives me momentum for the rest of the day. Afternoons are for the heavier work, the deep stuff that needs focus, and I block out that time on my calendar to make sure I’m undisturbed. My calendar is my lifeline, and I treat personal time the same as work commitments—whether it’s dinner at 6 pm or taking my dog for a walk. I usually rest between 6 and 8 pm, and if there’s still some work left, I’ll tackle it between 8 and 10 pm. It might sound like a lot, but pacing myself like this keeps me balanced. I also try to get the super heavy work done from Monday to Wednesday, working 10-12 hours on those days. This lets me keep the rest of the week lighter, which helps me avoid burnout. Automation is another lifesaver for me. Simple things like auto-scheduling meetings or setting reminders have made a world of difference. It frees me up to focus on the work that really matters. Not to mention frequent breaks and making sure I get my yearly vacations in where I completely step away from work and free my mind! Burnout is real, but I’ve learned that with the right balance—quick wins, structured time for heavy tasks, and real breaks—I can keep it at bay. How do you avoid burnout and keep yourself on track?
