Huge shout out to Westpac’s Steven Dyhrberg and Kirstie Wardle who used a combination of Wellbeing Leave, Volunteer Leave and Sports Representation Leave to facilitate the WMH Masters Hockey World Cup in Auckland! Steven, our Porirua Bank Manager, umpired matches just a week after completing the Napier IRONMāORI triathlon. Kirstie, a Senior Manager in our Human Resources team, used Volunteer Leave to act as a “technical official” – timekeeping and keeping score. The WMH Hockey World Cup saw about 140 teams from 16 nations and organisations descend on Albany for “two weeks of very long days, very little sleep and a lot of running around”, Steven said. “I want to say it VERY loudly and proudly that I could not have done this without the support of Westpac's #WorkPerks by granting me NZ Representative leave,” Steven said. “There are so many wonderful ways our company supports us and helps us do amazing things, be the very best we can be and allow us to participate beyond ‘just working’." All Westpac staff get five days of Wellbeing Leave and two Volunteer Leave days per year. Sportspeople representing New Zealand can get up to 15 days per year to pursue their goals. ? Congratulations Steven and congratulations Kirstie! ? #TogetherGreater #WestpacDoubleYou Cat Feaunati Helen Ryder Vaughan Biggs Marc Figgins
