Our Apex team has been in the mountains of North Carolina, assisting NCDOT Divisions 13 and 14 with storm damage utility assessments after Hurricane Helene. We've been working in areas like Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, and Lake Lure—places deeply affected by the storm. Seeing over 400 miles of damaged roads and more than 50 bridges either damaged or missing has been truly impactful. While we've faced long days, it's nothing compared to what the people of Polk and Henderson Counties are experiencing. These communities are important to us, and we're committed to helping them recover. Please keep North Carolina and its resilient people in your thoughts during this challenging time.

In celebration of Richmond Tree Week, Erin Herock and I volunteered to plant trees in the Swansboro West neighborhood of Richmond this morning. We were treated with an absolutely gorgeous morning and spent a few hours making new friends, learning about the history of the tree canopy in the neighborhood, and helping to provide the present and future community with the benefits of a healthy urban forest. Congratulations to Reforest Richmond, Matthew Szucs, and all the other volunteers and partners of Richmond Tree Week for leading this amazing effort! A few yards of concrete were placed at the Lincoln Park Pool this week…640 to be exact. Jersen Construction Group was on site to pour the structural support slab (designed by Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis Engineering & Surveying, D.P.C.) for the new splash pad & water slide. Weston & Sampson is excited to be leading the engineering & design team for this project; with two more pools, a new bathhouse, and more still to come, we’re looking forward to working with the City of Albany as construction continues!
