WPS Superintendent Jeni Gotto, Ed.D. joined superintendents from Adams 12 and Jeffco at?the Westminster Chamber of Commerce State of the City luncheon this afternoon. During a panel discussion on education issues they answered questions about how Westminster businesses can better partner with area districts to support the needs of students and educators across the city.?Dr. Gotto told the group today’s opening of Iver C Ranum Innovation Campus is a perfect example of public/private collaboration. A big day in WPS! Executive Director Ryan McCoy, MA looks on as students learn biotechnology at the new Iver C Ranum Innovation Campus! After years of thoughtful planning and collaboration with local industry leaders, the Iver C Ranum Innovation Campus finally opened today for students from WPS for CTE pathways in Aerospace, Biotechnology, and Cyber Security.?Superintendent Jeni Gotto, Ed.D. and Site Administrator Lottie Wilson welcomed the first sets students to come through the doors!?This is an exciting moment for Westminster Public Schools which promises to see a large expansion of the career and technology supports offered by this new, best-in-class campus! #whereeducationispersonal

It was a great day in WPS when we welcomed our new teachers to their first day. They were treated to a greeting gauntlet followed by an outstanding breakfast and then 5 days of New Teacher Orientation. 83 new teachers have joined the district ready to support the students of Westminster Public Schools. They were greeted with a warm "welcome to the family" speech by new superintendent, Dr. Jeni Gotto, Ed.D. along with Learning Services Director Mike Lynch and Chief of Staff Kirk Leday. The partnership at Westminster Public Schools is expanding! This last Friday, we hosted a tour of Iver C Ranum Innovation Campus with emerging partners Front Range Community College and Metropolitan State University of Denver along with Manufacturers Edge to offer Automation & Engineering Technology and Electronics Engineering Technology classes starting in Fall of 2025! This is an exciting launch where WPS students and the community will benefit from some of the best advanced manufacturing concurrent enrollments in the region! Thanks to our own Executive Director of Advancement and Strategic Partnerships Ryan McCoy, MA for leading the charge! Attendees included Dr. Chris McGilvray, April Menzies, Glenn P., Mark Yoss with MSU, Ken Floyd with FRCC, Joe Carter from X-Cal, Lottie Wilson, Robert Newbold from Manufacturer's Edge, and Justin Adcock, Ph.D.

Congratulations to Westminster Public Schools Communications Team who recently won awards from National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) and Colorado School Public Relations Association (COSPRA). The team was awarded Publications and Digital Media Excellence Award of Merit in the Website category from both associations. Westminster Public Schools Foundation hosted alumni tours of the soon-to-open Ranum Reimagined Innovation Campus for graduates of Westminster Public Schools. The multi-generational campus, which will specialize in CTE/STEM pathways with a focus on aerospace engineering, biomedical technology, cyber security, advanced manufacturing, and more, is set to open with a soft launch in August of 2024 with more pathways and offers set to come online in 2025. Congratulations and a huge shout out to Dr. Melisa Sandoval who recently shifted to Westminster Public School's new Director of Wellness in HR. This new role is a commitment by WPS and its Board of Education to address the well-being of WPS employees in a workplace that proactively fosters wellness and mental health literacy, as well as responsive supports based on needs of staff and faculty. Prior to this, Dr. Sandoval served as Learning Services Director and PK-8 Assistant Principal. Her background in mental health includes work as a mental health interventionist, school counselor, and special education team leader. She is a licensed therapist and holds a doctorate in Professional Learning Design. #whereeducationispersonal

Congratulations to the Westminster High School FFA Chapter who attended the state FFA convetion last week for competitions, leadership workshops, and participation as voting delegates. According to WHS Teacher and Adviser Lucas Naeger, "We are especially proud of the students competing at convention this year." Alitzah Castaneda Madera competed in the Creed Speaking Leadership Development Event where she received a bronze ranking. The Agricultural Issues Team also received Bronze for their forum on water usage in alfalfa production and the proposal of hybridizing drought tolerant varieties to be utilized in Colorado.?Additionally the Nursery/Landscape Team was recognized for receiving a Gold Ranking and taking 1st place in the Career Development Event earlier in May. "This team," said Naeger, "will be representing Colorado at the FFA National Convention this fall." WHS Teacher and Adviser Christopher Thornburg?also mentored the team this year and helped chaperone and coach at the convention. Great job, Westy FFA! We are so proud! #whereeducationispersonal
