We are thrilled to celebrate Katie Kavanaugh, who recently earned her LPN degree from Piedmont Community College. With a decade of experience as a CNA and five years at WCBR, Katie is passionate about building meaningful relationships with residents and their families. Outside of work, she loves exploring the great outdoors with her adventurous 7-year-old daughter, especially when the sun is shining, and the water is calling. Join us in congratulating Katie on her achievement and unwavering commitment to our community! Eli was born in Puerto Rico, inspired by his family for his love of all things culinary. Eli shares, "in Puerto Rico, we live off the land and if you don't grow it, you don't cook it." Even decades later, "I love how the culinary arts industry is forever evolving, I learn something new every day." Chef Eli is excited to share his passion and art of preparation in making meals that are healthy, delicious, and aesthetically pleasing.

Today is a National Day of Mourning as we recognize the life of President Jimmy Carter. Carter was was 100 years old when he died on Sunday, December 29, making him the longest-lived United States president. President Carter spent 22 months in hospice care. Both President and First Lady Carter understood the importance of formal and informal care partners. In fact, First Lady Carter founded the The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers. https://rosalynncarter.org

The WCBR Associate Holiday Party was festive and fa-la-la-la-fun! Many enjoyed a cake walk, holiday Jeopardy, the Saran Wrap ball game, and other giveaways. But most of all, associates enjoyed spending time together. Thank you to all who came and thank you to those who organized and volunteered! Wishing you and yours a happy holiday season.

WCBR's Team USA showed up today! Chair volleyball is a serious event here. You must stay in your chair -- or you receive a gluteal penalty! And no cheating in "candy pong"! Folks who participated in fitness activities over the last few weeks also received goody bags fit for an Olympian. Thanks to all who played!
