Unity Jam is BACK! ???? Unity Jam, a free event for all school-age children and the community, will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newburg location of Boys & Girls Club of Kentuckiana, 5020 E. Indian Trail, Louisville, KY 40218. This back-to-school event will feature health screening and wellness information, community resources, games, activities and light snacks. Children will receive a free backpack with school supplies (while supplies last) donated by employees of Norton Healthcare.

Regina Carrico is a paramedic for St. Matthews Fire and EMS. She experienced firsthand the effect COVID-19 had on the hospital systems at the start of the pandemic. When the vaccine was developed, it was clear the impact it had on the population’s health: “The [COVID-19] vaccine helped a lot with [the] severity of illness. Anybody that I’ve talked to that had COVID pre-vaccine and post-vaccine, it was a lot easier to deal with.” Regina is a champion for patient advocacy and understands the barriers people of color face in healthcare.
