Westinghouse Parts Business is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of all nuclear-related intellectual property from Atlas Industrial Manufacturing Co. With the Atlas IP acquisition, Westinghouse now owns and will be able to produce the original designs for all safety, ASME III, and non-safety related heat exchangers, vessels and equipment manufactured by Atlas for nuclear plant applications. Westinghouse’s stewardship of these designs exemplifies the commitment to providing dependable, long-term solutions to our customers.

?? Exciting news! The advanced AP1000? reactor has been downselected by Fortum for #NewNuclear projects to meet increasing energy demand in Finland and Sweden over the next 20 years. This further demonstrates that the construction-ready and proven AP1000 reactor can be deployed immediately in Europe to deliver affordable, abundant and clean energy. The nuclear industry recently lost a technology leader and pioneer with the passing of Ed Cummins, who previously served as vice president and chief technologist for Westinghouse’s New Plant Technologies. Known for his visionary approach and commitment to advancing nuclear technology, Ed made significant contributions throughout his 43-year Westinghouse career that helped shape industry standards and pave the way for safer, more efficient, advanced reactor designs – including the AP1000? PWR. He was regularly sought out for his technical expertise by industry groups, and in 2012, Ed received the George Westinghouse Lifetime Achievement Award for his impact in driving leading-edge technology and fostering technical excellence during his career. Westinghouse is so much better for his leadership, his contributions to the advancement of nuclear technology and his nurturing of the next generation of technical leaders.
