The nation's oldest independent, non profit trucking association founded in 1941
关于我们
Founded in 1941, the Western States Trucking Association (WSTA), formerly the California Construction Trucking Association (CCTA) is the oldest, independent nonprofit trucking association in the U.S. with over 1,000 members and another 5,000 affiliate motor carriers. We advocate on behalf of our owner-operator, fleet, and broker members for sensible legislation and regulations that affect their businesses. We also provide many membership benefits specifically tailored to the needs of small-business truckers. If you operate within the western region of the U.S., being a member of the WSTA can be the best investment you can make to stay informed on issues and operate a safe and profitable trucking company.

Bad regulations happen when regulators refuse to listen and actively engage with a regulated industry. In this case, during the run-up to the zero-emissions truck rules, we met with CARB and suggested allowing a bridge to the future (biodiesel and natgas) until electric and fuel cell technology for class 7-8 trucks was both affordable and met duty cycle requirements of motor carriers. They shut down the conversation immediately. “Fossil fuels will not be considered.” Immediate and ongoing emissions reductions were sacrificed for their desire to exert “command and control” on the transportation sector.?

Politico report: Gov. Newsom touts "success" of California seeing more zero-emission "truck" sales, which is deceptive because it's not in the class 7 or 8 truck segment and then equates WSTA (and other trucking associations) with "Big Oil." Joe Rajkovacz, director of governmental affairs for the Western States Trucking Association, said in a statement that oil companies aren’t financially supporting the organization in any of its three lawsuits..."It’d be nice if politicians engaged in less hyperbole and actually engaged the majority of trucking — small business — to see what they really need to make a transition workable,” Rajkovacz said. “That has not happened, nor with regulators who are doing the bidding of those same politicians.” https://lnkd.in/g2CdssdR

The WSTA has filed its third legal action challenging the headlong rush to mandate zero-emissions trucks. Cumulatively, there are now at least five major legal challenges brought by states and industry to CARB/EPA rules/decisions. https://lnkd.in/gFE3JtrB

New study: It'll cost $1 trillion just in infrastructure costs for trucking to go electric - trillions more to purchase the trucks (and our GDP is just $23+ trillion annually). This study is sure to be attacked by proponents of zero-emissions mandates who have "ginned up" their own studies justifying such an aggresive mandate on the trucking industry. https://lnkd.in/gWw-8c5S

Enviros are begining to worry about US EPA slow walking necessary waivers for CARB to begin enforcing its green agenda (and for other states who adopted CARB rules to also enforce). It's an election year and there isn't universal love for this rush to eliminate fossil fueled trucks/equipment. In fact, it can harm the Presidents re-election efforts. “The political calculation in the Biden White House is going to be really interesting,” said?Joe Rajkovacz, director of governmental affairs for the Western States Trucking Association, which represents small trucking companies and is suing the EPA and CARB over two California truck emissions rules. “Do they push EPA to grant the waiver before November, or do they wait till after the election?” https://lnkd.in/gGvBbg-4

Here we go again. California, at the behest of FMCSA, petitions for the agency to rescind its previous determination preempting the states unique meal & rest break rule on interstate truck drivers. Trial lawyers are going to love this... and they are the big beneficiarys, not highway safety. https://lnkd.in/eUMFAJiB
