HEARING PROTECTION DEVICES A pneumatic nail gun, if there are no muzzles and no restriction mechanism for the noise, can peak up to 110dB. This is pretty high, considering 82dB is considered the safe decibel level for everyone. Hearing protection devices (HPD) such as earmuffs and earplugs can be an effective measure to protect hearing in noisy work environments. However, hearing protection devices are only effective if they are properly sized and carefully fitted into or over the ear. The two common HPD categories are earplugs and earmuffs. https://lnkd.in/d9aqweha

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO REPORT AND DOCUMENT INJURIES ON SITE We are all trained to report any near misses, injuries, or incidents to a supervisor or safety representative. Often times however many of these incidents, especially first-aid type injuries, are not reported. Injuries are not reported because of many different reasons, but it is important to understand why all of them need to be. https://lnkd.in/dYUd-JMi

On Dec. 2, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency will hold a hearing on whether marijuana should be reclassified as a Schedule III drug. That would remove it from Schedule I — which includes heroin, LSD and ecstasy — and reshelf it alongside Tylenol with codeine and anabolic steroids. Check out this Constructive Dive article with insight on how construction managers can deal with changing marijuana laws from Trent Cotney: https://bit.ly/3AnouhY

DAVIS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES CHANGES FOR 2025 The Davis Memorial Foundation, a strong financial supporter of construction industry education since 1997, has announced its plans to expand its reach in the roofing industry. Setting the standard for other construction industry scholarships in the Western United States, these changes will help the Davis Memorial Foundation continue to increase its contributions to the roofing and construction industries. Alongside the Western States Roofing Contractors Association's Western Roofing Expo, the Davis Memorial Foundation raised over $110,000 in funding for its scholarship program. With this amount in mind, the Board of Trustees for the Foundation has decided to increase the amount of scholarships that they are granting to students each year from ten to 15 scholarships, with each scholarship having the value of $5,000. https://lnkd.in/draegG5K
