The Voice of the Plastics Industry in the West
关于我们
Mission The Western Plastic Association (WPA) is a trade association dedicated to representing the broad interests of the Plastic Industry in the Western States and Canadian Provinces of North America. Our goal is to unify the Industry and educate legislators and the public through programs and newsletters. WPA was created out of the trade organization, the California Film Extruders and Converters Association (CFECA). CFECA has been in existence since the 1970’s and represented the interests of the film and bag industry in California and the Pacific Northwest for over 30 years. CFECA had many successes in the legislative arena, and provided its members with the opportunity to network on a monthly basis. The new name for CFECA, The Western Plastics Association, represents our expansion as a plastics trade association to all the sectors of the industry. Objectives Serve as the voice of Western Processors with regard to political, environmental and industry issues. Provide educational opportunities for its members, including discussions of relevant technical, business and legal issues. Provide a forum for networking through programs held at multiple locations on the West Coast.

?? ?? The Responsible Recycling Alliance (RRA), a coalition organized by two of our members PreZero US and EFS-plastics Inc. alongside Merlin Plastics, oppose bills AB 2236 and SB 1053. Roxanne Spiekerman, Vice President of Public Affairs for PreZero US and one of WPA's Board Members explains in the press release, “The proposed ban on reusable plastic film grocery bags would force Californians to choose between two options, both of which carry with them negative environmental challenges. The canvas and sewn poly-woven or non-woven polypropylene bags are not recyclable by any known method in the U.S., contain zero post-consumer content, and are typically imported from overseas." Click the link below to read more about these two bills, their negative impact on both the environment and lower-income Californians, as well as why reusable plastic film grocery bags is the right long-term solution for recycling in California. #PCR #grocerybags #sustainability #recycling #plasticsindustry #plasticbags #responsiblesolutions #alliance #advocates #legislation https://lnkd.in/gj9TFsHY
