The first of our Future Chats, a new series exploring museum trends via informal discussions, kicked off on Wednesday to explore Coping with Climate Risk. Participants joined Elizabeth Merritt, director of our Center for the Future of Museums, and guest speaker Marcy Rockman to explore how museums are impacted by climate change and how they can effectively manage these risks. One highlight of the discussion was how museums can address heat. Elizabeth posed these thought-provoking questions, which you can also apply to your discussions about other climate impacts: ?? How do you think about heat, what are your assumptions, what do you expect to hear about heat? ?? How are your assumptions about heat, “baked into” your organization—from operations to the physical infrastructure? ?? What are some tangible ways your organization can manage heat?
