Western Los Angeles County Council, Scouting America?(WLACC) served as a Gold Sponsor at this afternoon's State of the County Luncheon, hosted by the?United Chambers of Commerce San Fernando Valley and Region .?Members of our Board of Directors had the opportunity to meet Lindsey Horvath as she outlined her goals for the Third District. Here are some key takeaways regarding our Council and the Third District: -We serve more than 3,000 youth in the Third District, about 15% of the young people in our Council district. In addition, we have 460 girls in our district. -Through one of our outreach programs, WLACC has been able to provide access to Camp Emerald Bay for 241 low-income Latino youth from the San Fernando Valley, with plans to serve an additional 1,010 low-income families from both the San Fernando Valley and the Long Beach YMCA. -Camp Josepho, which was destroyed in the Palisades Fire, served as a cornerstone for youth development in Los Angeles for 85 years. -Scouts in the Palisades area have joined forces to support their local communities such as building and donating ash shifters to volunteer organizations and local firehouses. - In addition,?Western Los Angeles County Council, Scouting America and Greater Los Angeles Scouting?joined forces to donate?62,000 water bottles to the CalFire Camp at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

关于我们
The Western Los Angeles County Council Boy Scouts of America supports individuals, families, and community organizations providing values-based recreational and educational programs and activities that develop young people of character. Leadership in today's businesses, industry, science, government, universities, professions, unions and armed services can be strongly traced to associations in Scouting. Scouting teaches citizenship and leadership qualities that make a difference. We serve 65% of Los Angeles County through six incredible districts stretching from LAX to Edwards Air Force Base, one of the most diverse population centers in the country. The youth who are its members live in farming towns, in suburban communities and in the congested neighborhoods of the city encompassing the extremes of the economic scale, from the poverty stricken to the wealthiest. We operate three renown and historic Camps: Camp Emerald Bay - on the waterfront of pristine Catalina Island, Camp Josepho – in Pacific Palisades but seemingly distant from the metropolis around it, and Camp Whitsett – among the pines of Sequoia National Forest. These three camps have collectively been in operation for the past 100 years. Among the camps we formerly operated are: Camp Wolverton, Jubilee Scout Ranch and Camp Slauson, Sea Base. The BSA’s goal is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in outdoor activities, educational programs, and, at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations. For younger members, the Scout method is part of the program to instill typical Scouting values such as trustworthiness, good citizenship, and outdoors skills, through a variety of activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking. For younger members Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA offers enriching programs for boys and girls. For youth ages 14 to 20 Co-Ed Programs include: Venturing, Exploring, & Sea Scouts

Thank you to KABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News for highlighting one of our Scouts from the Western Los Angeles County Council, Scouting America. Nali Weaver, a member of Pacific Palisades Troop 223, is leading an Eagle Scout project to aid communities affected by the recent wildfires. Alongside her fellow Scouts, Nali has helped create 150 ash sifters, essential tools for recovering items that may have survived the fires. Many of the teens involved in this effort are from the Palisades area and have either been displaced or lost their homes due to the wildfires. Amazing work, Nali!
