Project Dream Dress is a program by the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition that provides free prom attire to young people currently in foster care or who have been adopted through foster care in the St Louis and St Charles areas. This opportunity is also provided to students experiencing hardship. As personal shopper volunteers, our crew got matched up with teens to assist them in finding the perfect dress and accessories for their big day. It is an incredibly rewarding experience to witness the transformation as these teens say yes to their prom dress! Once Project Dream Dress concludes, these dresses go for sale to the general public for $35 each with all the proceeds going to the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition. One of the unique parts of the CU Journey is reconnecting with employees after they've settled into their roles. About 6 months after getting hired, we get back together to spend a day re-immersing ourselves in WCCU's culture. What does this look like? A day of honest empowering discussion, learning what it means to be ALL IN, lunch (of course!) and a great volunteer experience at the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
