Our President and CEO Michael N Romita brought insights from WCA’s Policy Playbook to the NYS Infrastructure Summit in Binghamton last week, moderating the panel "Powering the Southern Tier: Energy, Innovation, and Economic Development.” Joined by industry leaders Kevin Hale, Director, NYSERDA; Patricia Nilsen, New York State Electric & Gas; and Chuck Schwerin, Acadia Energy, Michael shared best practices and collaborated on strategies to build a more resilient and sustainable future for New York State.

Supporting the Future #Cybersecurity Workforce: WCA President & CEO Michael N Romita joined U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand at Pace University-Pleasantville/Briarcliff Campus to spotlight the Department of Defense Cyber Service Academy scholarship program. Pace is one of 24 New York higher ed centers designated a National Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity and qualified to host the program. With the rising threat of cyberattacks, this is a terrific initiative aimed at addressing critical #workforce gaps and safeguarding our national security. ?? To help young people recognize opportunities in the healthcare industry beyond becoming a doctor or nurse, the WCA’s Healthcare Consortium has spearheaded a new career pathways initiative. The project connects healthcare professionals from WCA member organizations with high school students to expose them to the diverse opportunities — from radiology technicians to medical emergency responders and beyond — that make our vital healthcare system function. Panelists recently shared advice and insights with students at Rochambeau Alternative High School and White Plains High School. Spearheaded by the WCA's Workforce Committee, the project aims to cultivate a regional talent pipeline by reaching students at a young age and guiding them towards fulfilling career paths.
