We are Westchester Mushroom Co., a team of local farmers growing specialty mushrooms out of Peekskill, NY. At Westchester’s first indoor mushroom farm, we cultivate mushrooms for restaurants and DeCicco & Sons grocery stores across the County. Born out of the pandemic, we identified the need for fresh local specialty mushroom options and the benefits they provide our community’s food supply. Specialty mushroom varieties require extremely specific growing conditions and don’t retain their quality well when shipped long distances. Since our mushrooms are grown locally, they can be delivered within hours, not days of being harvested — giving them a higher quality, longer shelf life and a reduced carbon footprint. Our specialty mushroom offering currently includes Lion's Mane, numerous varieties of Oyster, King Trumpet, Pioppino, Chestnut and Shiitake, but we are constantly cultivating new and exciting varieties of mushrooms.
