"We talk about (the warning signs) separation from our families, the poor communication with our spouses. Not attending children's functions and when we start to have that social awkwardness and distance ourselves. The sleeplessness. It's perfectly normal for us to go through those things, but there are resources (to combat these struggles)." We were lucky enough to sit down with Captain David Hodges of the Charleston Fire Department and discuss the importance of mental health among our heroic first responders and navigating their tough everyday lives. Finding the balance between strength in the field, while also recognizing the need for ensuring their own mental wellbeing, is paramount. For the audio only version of this episode, you can find us anywhere that you get your podcasts.
