WMCC is a pillar in cancer care in our region by serving the whole person and through community collaboration.
关于我们
West Michigan Cancer Center (WMCC) is changing the tide on cancer. WMCC is an ambulatory, stand alone cancer center. We are treating, beating and curing cancer more than ever before, and helping patients move beyond it so it doesn’t maintain a grip on their lives. We have the technological resources, clinical skill, support services, and experience to best meet your individual challenge, which explains why more people are referred and treated here than anywhere else in the region. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, plan to fight it and fight to win. Together, we win.

This month, as we focus on pancreatic cancer, we want to share this informational video on the signs, symptoms and risk factors for the disease. We also want to share how WMCC is helping patients who receive this diagnosis. WMCC is a National Pancreas Foundation Center of Excellence. NPF Centers of Excellence are premier healthcare facilities that focus on the multidisciplinary treatment of pancreas disease, treating the 'whole patient' with a focus on the best possible outcomes and improved quality of life. Our program is led by Dr. Gitonga Munene, division chief of surgical oncology at WMCC. He has extensive experience treating pancreatic cancer. Dr. Munene is also chair of the Department of Surgical Sciences at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed).

As we head into the season of Thanksgiving, we are filled with gratitude for all the wonderful acts of kindness shared with us by so many individuals and organizations. Our friends at @kalamazoo.fc, Dave and Melissa Shufelt, are favorite donors, as they support area cancer patients year after year. Dave recently presented a check for $1,174 to WMCC Development Director Anne Witherspoon to help cancer patients with needs not covered by insurance. Thank you, Dave and Melissa, and all the people who attended Kalamazoo Football Club games this past season! #WMCC #HopeStartsHere #KalamazooFC #fundraiser #thankyou #Kalamazoo #SWMichigan

We're proud of the work that our Radiation Oncology Division Chief, Dr. Mazen Mislmani, is doing in conjunction with MROQC, a statewide radiation oncology quality consortium. Dr. Mislmani recently spoke at their meeting in Kalamazoo. WMCC has been an active participant since MROQC's inception in 2011. #WMCC #HopeStartsHere #MROQC #radiationoncoloy #MazenMislmani #qualitycare #Kalamazoo

Today we celebrate International Day of Medical Physics! Our medical physicists play a vital role in radiation treatment by ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in medicine. They design patient treatment plans for high-precision treatments. They also check dose calculations and the quality of treatment plans developed by radiation therapists. This recognition takes place every year on November 7, the birthday of Marie Curie--the Nobel Prize winning (twice!) European physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. #WMCC #HopeStartsHere #medicalphysics #radiationtreatment #Kalamazoo #SWMichigan
