Now with the help of our partners, we’re turning decades of best practices into regional strategies that multifamily owners and operators can use to protect their portfolios. Go behind the scenes of our latest training with insights from Joshua Saks from Georgetown Climate Center, Ali Khademian from Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP), Judith Cabelli from Wesley Housing and our very own Krista Egger. Passionate Leader Committed to Justice, Diversity, Racial and Social Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
Yesterday we discussed the importance of adopting a value of inclusion so that all communities will be inclusive of all residents. For many years, all LIHTC allocations across Virginia have included a 10% priority preference state mandate for individuals with development disabilities and severe mental illness at each property. Therefore, it is more important than ever to adopt this value of inclusion so we move from mandate to truly inclusive housing for all residents in every community. This inclusion starts with intentionally adopting the value of inclusion at an organizational level of each organization and then implementating that intentionality through the real estate development team and every other department. What a privilege to present on this topic and engage with the attendees in collaboration with our essential community partner, Margot Greenlee, Executive Director of Our Stomping Ground, in a session moderated by Ara Mendoza of Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, at the 2024 Virginia Housing Governor’s Conference, spotlighting Wesley Housing’s beautiful The Waypoint at Fairlington as our OSG and Fairlington Presbyterian Church faith community partnership example. #VAGHC #Inclusion #HousingJustice #Equity #AffordableHousing

Wesley Housing, Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC), and True Ground Housing Partners joined forces on November 9 to host a community health fair at the Lubber Run Community Center in Arlington. The event featured free health services like HIV testing, substance use recovery support, and wellness activities like DIY stress ball workshops and pumpkin painting. We’re proud to work alongside AHC and True Ground to build not just housing, but a thriving, healthy future for our neighbors. Thank you to the many partners who came together to deliver these resources to the community!
