As a young boy, I was far from the image of a typical athlete. Tiny, and with no initial interest in sports, I was often told I was 'weak.' Those words, though harsh, sparked a transformation. At age 8, helping my mom sell donuts in the market, I never imagined a future on the basketball court. But social judgment, coupled with the influence of my friend Ramdan Toure and the inspiration of Michael Jordan, ignited a passion within me. Ramdan and I immersed ourselves in the world of basketball, training tirelessly and studying NBA games of the 90s. We emulated Jordan's drills, pushing our physical and mental limits. But it wasn't just physical training. It was the mental game that truly transformed me. Jordan's emphasis on winning in the mind resonated deeply, as did the lessons from my childhood cartoon, 'Once Upon A Time: Life,' which taught me the power of visualization. Ramdan and I would train late at night, under the cover of darkness, visualizing the hoop and perfecting our shots. This mental training translated into tangible improvement during the day. However, in 12th grade, a devastating knee injury threatened to derail my dreams. Faced with a choice, I listened to my instincts and chose to forgo surgery. This decision, against influenced societal pressures, marked the end of my pursuit of a professional basketball career. Yet, this experience was not a failure. It was a crucial turning point. I learned that my calling was not solely defined by physical prowess. My early exposure to business while helping my mother, coupled with the dawn of the computer age, revealed my true passions: business and technology. More importantly, I discovered the power of developing my 'invisible faculties' – my mental and intuitive strengths. These inner resources propelled me forward, ultimately leading to recognition by the US Department of State for my professional achievements. Have you ever watched a young child, before the world's complexities and societal expectations take hold, and marveled at their innate sense of knowing? From infancy to around age five, children often operate with a remarkable connection to their instincts, a natural ability to tap into intuitive insights. They haven't yet been fully indoctrinated by the "shoulds" and "musts" of the world, allowing their innate wisdom to shine brightly. This resonates deeply with my own journey. My early exposure to the power of decision-making and inner strength came during a challenging period in high school. Facing abuse and injustice, I often felt isolated and misunderstood. Even my parents, initially, struggled to grasp the gravity of my situation. From grades 8 to 12, confusion and trouble were constant companions. However, amidst the turmoil, I found a guiding light in my mentor, Paul Schenker. He provided a calm and supportive environment, a safe space where I could explore my inner strength. The long walks to and from school, miles each way, became a form of personal training, a time to cultivate my subjective strengths and resilience. In grade 12, I made the pivotal decision to break free. It was a leap of faith, a choice driven by an inner knowing that I needed to reclaim my life. The moment I acted, my parents' eyes were opened to the truth. I didn't know where I would go or what I would become, but I knew I had to trust myself. Initially, I found refuge with my dear friend Dominique Dontema’s family, who opened their hearts and home to me when they learned of my struggles. During those formative years, I often retreated into quiet introspection, working on building my inner fortitude. Many classmates, observing my quiet moments, thought I was odd, but I was developing a deep connection with my inner self. This experience taught me the profound importance of nurturing our innate abilities, the intuitive wisdom we all possess, especially in our formative years. Our recent seminar was a testament to this, with participants ranging from 14 to 60+ discovering their natural psychic abilities. It’s never too early or too late to reconnect with your inner wisdom.
