Today (and every day) WE give thanks to WE Collaborator, Anna Schmitt, Co-founder of Yarrow, LLC, based in Montana. Anna's passions are maternal health, Indigenous peoples' health and wellbeing, and the elimination of gender-based violence. In addition to her evaluation and strategic planning work with Yarrow, Anna volunteers for Zonta, an international women’s empowerment organization. Anna grew up in Colorado, but now calls Montana her home. She enjoys time with Mother Nature, family, friends, and her ever-growing brood of creatures.#WEpublichealth #ConsultingExcellence #WEAppreciateYou #PublicHealthLeadership Tomorrow is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, so we'll be sharing more about how to get involved.

November is National Family Caregivers Month Women shoulder the burden of unpaid family caregiving, significantly reducing lifetime earning potential. A new report (https://lnkd.in/g_Vn8dvE) by Oxfam and Prosperity Now shines a light on the role of unpaid caregiving, the gender and racial disparities in unpaid care, and the devastating inequities in the paid labor force faced by women, especially women of color. If you are the one in four who provides care to friends or family, The Caregiver Action Network has a comprehensive toolkit to help you navigate caregiving and access benefits for your services. #caregivers https://lnkd.in/ekhp7FZv #CaregiverAnd #NFCMonth #FamilyCaregiver #WEPublicHealth

Imagination & Creativity are core values of WE Public Health. Join WE Collaborator Kimberly Green-Warren, MPH as she teaches the art of calligraphy at the APHA Annual Meeting!
? Excited to share that I’ll be leading a 30-minute workshop at the American Public Health Association Meeting next Sunday on one of my favorite topics: calligraphy as a tool to enhance well-being! For me, calligraphy has always been more than just art—it’s a way to slow down, reflect, create, & connect with self. I’m excited for the chance to blend my love for calligraphy with public health and show how this creative practice can support our well-being, both personally and professionally. Sharing one of my favorite quotes below, and looking forward to connecting with public health professionals who believe in not just “surviving but thriving”—by finding balance between prioritizing for our own well-being while doing the important work of supporting others. See you there, friends! ? Title: Calligraphy as a Tool to Enhance Well-Being ? When: Sunday, Oct. 27 from 3:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. ? Where: Minneapolis Convention Center Exhibit Hall, Booth 1039 Wellness Lounge #wellness #publichealth #creativity #calligraphy #wellbeing #APHA2024

What an honor, Colorado School of Public Health. Mentoring students to discover and nurture the talents they already possess, supporting them transform challenges into opportunities, and witnessing their growth into passionate public health leaders, has been so rewarding. I’m inspired daily and proud to play a small role in their journeys. Thanks also to my Gyedi Project colleagues who continue to create the learning environment for building leaders who are dedicated to a healthier future for all! #PublicHealth

Yesterday was National Mammography Day! The CDC reports that breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed among women. Screenings and breast exams are a part of the early detection process. The US Preventive Services Task Force recommends that women at average risk for breast cancer get a mammogram every two years, starting at age 40 and continuing through age 74. Women with increased risk may need to start screening earlier, get additional tests, or be tested more often. What can you do? Ask your doctor to schedule your mammogram, and ask loved ones if they have scheduled theirs. Read what to know before you go: https://bit.ly/3QFeypZ #MammographyMatters #WEPublicHealth #WomenInPublicHealth
