??Child 'self-generated' sexual material accounts for a large proportion of the child #sexualabuse material being shared online. Our research conducted with Praesidio Safeguarding listened to children and young people's views on this issue in Ghana, Thailand and Ireland. One of our findings was that girls are thought to be disproportionately affected by the negative consequences of sharing such material. ?? As part of our work with the multi-agency Safe Futures Hub, we’re seeking expressions of interest for a consultancy which will be hosted by WeProtect Global Alliance. ?? UNICEF’s first-ever global estimates on sexual violence against children ?? Today, we are released @UNICEF’s first-ever global estimates on sexual violence against children, and the numbers are alarming: over 370 million girls and women—1 in 8—have experienced rape or sexual assault before the age of 18. In fragile settings, this rises to 1 in 4. Globally, between 410 and 530 million boys and men have also been subjected to sexual violence as children." This violence leaves deep, lifelong scars, affecting mental health, social well-being, and the ability to form healthy relationships. Beyond girls and women, up to 530 million boys and men have also been impacted, underscoring the global scale of this pervasive crisis. These findings remind us that sexual violence against children knows no geographic, cultural, or economic boundaries. Every child, everywhere, deserves to live free from fear, abuse, and harm. Now more than ever, we must work together to combat childhood sexual violence and secure a safer future for every child by: ?? Challenging social norms that perpetuate violence and prevent children from seeking help. ?? Empowering children with accessible, age-appropriate information to recognize and report abuse. ?? Ensuring justice and healing services for victims and survivors, and reducing the risk of further harm. ?? Strengthening laws that protect children and investing in resources and systems to uphold them. ?? Building robust national data systems to monitor progress and ensure accountability.
