Dear All, Today marks one year since we launched the WeNeverFightAlone program, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the journey so far. ?? ?? The program was born from countless conversations about WeNeverWalkAlone for Law Enforcement, where we were often asked: “What about Firefighters/EMS?” ???????? On a freezing January morning in 2024, we decided to take that step—and wow, are we glad we did. Since then, over 18 agencies have joined us, representing Fire Departments, Public Safety Administrations, and 9-1-1 Dispatch Centers. ???????? With the incredible Capt. Tom Howard from the First Responder Peer Initiative leading peer support training (huge thanks to Dan and Tammy at Cornerstone Retreat Center for 1st Responders for the intro), we’ve now trained over 50 peer supporters and built a network of 120+ vetted mental health professionals. ?? The vibe with Firefighters is different, but their camaraderie and commitment to supporting one another are universal. It’s an honor to serve such inspiring individuals, and the appreciation you’ve shown us is humbling and energizing. ?? On this special day, we’re thrilled to welcome Belleville Fire Department to the WeNeverFightAlone family! Shoutout to Chief Stephanie Mills and the entire team. With Belleville and Swansea now having their police, fire, and dispatch departments onboard, these communities are leading the way in officer wellness. ???? Thank you for trusting us. Brave Firefighters and EMT personnel experience a lot of direct and vicarious stress and trauma due to the nature of the work. Like everyone, they are also susceptible to issues not directly related to work but affecting the desired performance expectation at work. Swansea Fire Department has spearheaded this effort to connect Firefighters with trained Peer Supporters and vetted mental health professionals across the nation. The grand vision of the program is to serve as a one stop shopping place for Firefighters and First Responders to obtain peer support, educational material, external resources, real time interaction with advisors, share survival stories, access lifestyle information, retreat information and much more. This endeavor is a pioneering effort and a first of its kind in the nation. It is modern, engaging, relevant, beautiful, user friendly and highly efficient. Peer support is 100% confidential, secure, private and anonymous. Mobile Apps for iPhone and Android devices are available for convenience. Please make the best of this system.
