This week, I had the pleasure of joining Norrsken’s HER/O month ???? to discuss fundraising hacks for women entrepreneurs with my fellow panelists, Nastaran Baleng-Soultani and Lisen Oliw. Here is what I shared: ?? Biggest mistake founders make: Framing the "Use of Proceeds" in terms of costs rather than value creation. ? When to approach investors: first impressions matter! Every meeting is a sales pitch, so be well prepared for the "just coffees" to avoid backfiring. ?? Valuation in pitch decks: for early rounds, share a valuation range and remember it’s a balance between what you need, the equity you’re willing to give, and potential long-term returns. We also discussed how women founders can drive systemic change. I believe that intentionally managing their cap tables and distributing ownership is key to women building wealth long term. The American corporate governance advisor Glass Lewis announced today that it will acquire the Swedish startup Esgaia, which offers a platform for investment management as well as data and workflow management. Among the sellers is the venture capital firm Wellstreet, which has been an investor in Esgaia through its Fintech Fund since its inception in 2021. We are incredibly impressed by what the team at Esgaia has achieved in such a short time and proud to have been an early investor who has closely followed their journey!
