??Congratulations--and thank you--to everyone who ran or walked in the weekend's Oktoberfest races. ?? We had a record 342 people registered! A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, cheered on runners, or participated in any way. In the 5K, Isaac Rodriguez finished first overall male, at 19:58:34. Samantha Crawford was the top overall female finisher at 21:29:81. Taylor Christianson of Birmingham came in first in the 10K at 42:10:36; Mary Kendrick Christianson earned the first-place prize for that race with 50:23:26. Here are a few pictures. More to come! What a day! The ribbon is cut ????. More pictures to come, but here's a glimpse of the energy and excitement at WellStone's new Pediatric Crisis Care Center. ??The 24-bed, 12,000 sq. foot facility is not yet open to patients, but we expect to start serving kids (12 - 18 to start) in crisis by the end of the month. Thank you to Governor Ivey, Commissioner Boswell, Speaker Ledbetter, Rep. Reynolds, state and local leaders, friends, supporters, and advocates for showing up today. ??

Ribbon cutting today. ?? No more renderings. The real deal. ?? Opening for clients expected in the weeks ahead. ??
The calm before the celebration. Tomorrow we will cut the ribbon on Alabama’s first pediatric crisis center. I am so proud of WellStone and our employees. This center is a much needed resource for our community. Tomorrow will be a great day.

As Suicide Prevention Month continues, WellStone staffers spent the weekend raising awareness at three different events. Laurin Mitchell, MSW, talked to the local GFWC Juniorettes about what they can do should they find a friend in crisis. Melissa Caldwell rallied the troops at Dee's Freedom Walk, coordinated by Dr. Cubeon Washington in honor of her mother, who died by suicide in 2010. And finally, the St. Stephen's 3rd annual suicide vigil and labyrinth walk. Remember, you are not alone. ?? If you are struggling with self-defeating, hopeless thoughts or suicidal ideations, call the 9-8-8 Lifeline.
