Wellstar’s Soul Support program is helping to build community resilience by providing congregations with improved access to behavioral health education and resources like the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) suicide prevention workshop. This workshop trains congregation leaders and members to recognize suicide signs and navigate mental health emergencies. Thanks to generous support from the Wellstar Foundation and MolinaCares, Soul Support is ensuring more families and communities have access to the holistic care they need, close to home. Wellstar Psychiatrist Dr. Germán Antonio Reyes MD and Wellstar Urologist Dr. Scott Miller, MD, MBA joined The Weekly Check-Up to discuss the importance of having conversations related to mental health during National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and Hispanic Heritage Month. With a growing incidence of suicide, including among Hispanic and Latino communities, it is important to de-stigmatize the conversation. The Wellstar Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Center received full accreditation from the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, now known as ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education. CPE is interfaith professional education for those interested in providing spiritual care to patients, families and team members in a clinical setting. Earlier this week, Wellstar Center for Health Equity joined Thriving Together Atlanta for Equitable Dinners. Community members gathered for important, thought-provoking conversations about race and health equity and how we can create change. Thriving Together Atlanta is an innovative collaboration between the City of Atlanta - Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, the CDC Foundation, National Black Arts Festival and Out Of Hand Theater aimed at addressing the health disparities, inequities and the impact of racism on public health.
