The Gender Pay Gap: Are you working for free? ? The data shows that Australian Women from today are working for free for the rest of the year. With NZ women earning 8.2 % less than men they’ll too be working for free from 30th November. A huge gap exists to close, but there have been a few but significant shifts around the world over the last week. ?? In NZ, the Minister of Women, Nicola Grigg announced the Gender Pay Gap Toolkit, empowering businesses with practical tools to measure and close pay gaps—providing transparency where it’s been missing. ?? https://lnkd.in/gdDdBJck ?? Across the globe, The EU’s Pay Transparency Directive mandates companies to disclose pay data and take action on gaps over 5%, paving the way for open, fair workplaces. And in Australia? While the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) pushes for voluntary reporting, mandatory measures like those in the EU remain absent, there has been some local legislative progress: earlier this month, Camilla Belich's Employment Relations (Employee Disclosure) Amendment Bill passed its first reading. This bill aims to ban gag clauses that prevent discussions around salaries—a critical move to reduce pay gaps. At Wellspirit, we’re here to help women get access to career support including navigating pay inequities—whether it’s understanding your worth, preparing for negotiations, or strategizing your next career move. Because when women rise, workplaces thrive. #PayEquity #GenderPayGap #CareerSupport #Wellspirit #Womeninwork

Thanks to the Movac team for holding the Annual Marketing Jam yesterday and Serge van Dam for inspiring NZ's start-up founders to do more risk-taking. As start-up founders, we can change the marketing game, without the constraints of big corporate reputations at stake - it's easier for us to be brave, bold and take risks. It's there for the taking. 3 learnings from yesterday and what I am doubling-down as a result: 1. Partnering - horizontally and vertically to add more value as we solve the challenges women face in the workplace. Thanks Nick Whitehead from Serko. 2. Keep building out AI marketing agents. It's no rocket science, but never overlook any action to automate. As of today, ChatGPT is transforming youtube videos into blog posts for me. 3. The power of reviews. For Wellspirit this is prioritising use cases - the authentic challenges women are facing in the workplace and how easily and quickly they are solving these with Wellspirit. . A great chance to learn from NZ's start-up marketing experts, meet many tech marketing experts and also finally meet fellow Ministry of Awesome founder Siobhan Ellis!

8 Ways to Set Boundaries with your Manager (without Saying "No" or risking your career). Setting boundaries can feel tricky, especially when saying "no" feels out of the question. Instead, the real key is focusing on HOW things can be done, showing that solutions can deliver high performance and meet workplace expectations. Here are 8 smart ways to protect your time and well-being, whilst delivering results. 1. Prioritize Collaboratively “To give my best effort, which project should I prioritize?” Work with your boss to determine what matters most and align on goals together. 2. Suggest Resource Support “With extra help, we can hit both quality and timeline goals. Can we bring someone in?” This approach keeps project quality high and prevents overload. 3. Suggest a Streamlined Approach “What if we set regular check-ins to stay on track without overloading anyone?” Propose a sustainable workflow to improve productivity. 4. Empower Delegation “[Colleague] has been eager to expand their skills—this could be a great opportunity for them!” Empower colleagues by suggesting task-sharing that benefits their growth. 5. Suggest Alternatives “How about [alternative solution]? This might keep us on track efficiently.” Offer a different approach that achieves the same goal without overstretching. 6. Re-frame project as developmental “This project could help [team member] grow, and I’d be happy to support them.” Frame tasks as team development chances to distribute workload effectively. 7. Focus on Project Impact “I want this project to succeed—could we adjust focus to best meet our goals?” Keep conversations on what’s best for the project, ensuring strategic focus. 8. Highlight Balanced Trade-offs “I’m at capacity on Project A, so adding this could affect Project B’s timeline. Could we prioritize?” Clarify trade-offs to deliver quality without over-extending yourself. How do you set your boundaries at work? Drop your tips in the comments! #CareerGrowth #Professionalwomen #Boundaries #boundarysetting #ProfessionalDevelopment #Professionalsupport #Prioritisation

?? Is perfectionism burning you out or holding you back from reaching your goals? ?? As professional women, many of us have spent years striving to be 'perfect' - juggling career, family, and life to meet unattainably high standards. But what's the real driver of perfectionism? According to Brené Brown, a world-leading researcher on shame and vulnerability, perfectionism is driven by our feelings of worthiness. Perfectionism is actually a form of fear: fear of failure, fear of judgment or criticism, it's rooted in "What will people think?". So to avoid, blame and criticism, we end up carrying this shield of Perfectionism around with us, thinking that it will protect us from getting hurt. Instead of being a driver of success, it keeps us afraid to show up as our true, imperfect selves and as a result we too often overwork or even burnout. ?? Is this something you can relate to? Has Perfectionism played a part in your career journey? We'd love to hear. SOURCE: Oprah's Life Class: https://bit.ly/3AaIhRC ?? The Annual Deloitte’s Women @ Work 2024: A Global Outlook annual report is out and it's highlighting that progress for women in the workplace is stagnating. Which isn't great news. More than 4 in 10 (43%) women experienced either micro-aggressions or harassment (or both) at work in the past 12 months. Despite this, only one in 10 women believe they can make a complaint to their employer about non-inclusive behaviours without affecting their career. It's just these type of experience and many others that women face as they nagivate career. That's why www.wellspirit.com provides a safe place for ambitious corporate women to connect with women to ask for guidance and get the support they need from Wellness and HR experts. A place where we all can really start to talk about the challenges we actually face and the changes we need to champion in the workplace to improve gender equity. #genderequality #workplacediscrimination #noninclusivebehaviour #empoweringcorporatewomen #mentalhealth #careersupport #mentalwellbeingsupport #genderrepresentation https://lnkd.in/eVdCVZCM
