This November, we recognize World Diabetes Month and its significant impact on skilled nursing facilities. Effective diabetes management is essential for the health and well-being of individuals in long-term care. Skilled nursing facilities prioritize personalized care plans that address each person’s unique needs, ensuring they receive the support necessary to manage their condition effectively. Diabetes symptoms can vary, with some individuals experiencing mild symptoms that may go unnoticed. Common symptoms include frequent urination, increased thirst and hunger despite eating, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, slow healing cuts or bruises, weight loss, particularly in type 1 diabetes, and tingling or numbness in the hands or feet which is more common in type 2 diabetes. For more information on diabetes, its risks, and for resources, visit Diabetes.org or follow the American Diabetes Association. Let’s raise awareness about diabetes and commit to providing compassionate care for those living with this chronic disease. ?? #WorldDiabetesMonth #SkilledNursing #DiabetesAwareness #CompassionateCare #WellsentialHealth #Diabetes

This Veterans Day, we proudly recognize a dedicated team member who has served over fourteen years in the Army, both active duty and reserves, where she currently holds the rank of Sergeant First Class. Meet Marshelda! ?? Her military experience, especially as an Army medic, shaped her understanding of holistic healthcare. She believes that true health goes beyond physical well-being to encompass all aspects of a person’s life. Her disciplined, service-oriented approach has been invaluable in her role as a healthcare professional, allowing her to prioritize effectively and support residents with dedication. For veterans considering a transition into healthcare, she encourages taking the leap, emphasizing that healthcare organizations highly value the commitment and discipline veterans bring. On Veterans Day, she connects with fellow soldiers, reflecting on shared experiences and honoring fallen friends.

This Veterans Day, we’re proud to highlight a valued team member, a former U.S. Army Sergeant who served over eight years as a military police officer before transitioning into healthcare and social services. Meet KylieAnn! ?? Her military experience instilled essential skills in leadership, crisis management, and cultural awareness, which she now applies daily to advocate for and support residents with empathy and resilience. Working with a diverse range of people in the Army helped her build connections across backgrounds, a skill that enriches her work, especially when engaging with veteran residents. For veterans interested in healthcare, she advises valuing their skills—such as resilience, discipline, and quick decision-making—since these qualities are critical in handling healthcare’s demands. Veterans can thrive in this field by exploring different roles, leveraging available training and certification programs, and finding mentorship networks for guidance.

This Veterans Day, we proudly honor one of our team members, a dedicated human resources professional who served twenty-three years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.? Meet Jorge! ?? His time in the Navy taught him the value of diverse perspectives, fair treatment, and the importance of making every interaction meaningful. These principles continue to shape his work with our facilities today as he strives to support and understand each team member he encounters. For veterans looking to transition into healthcare, he encourages them not to underestimate the value of their military experience; the skills gained, including resilience under pressure, have a powerful impact on the healthcare sector. On Veterans Day, he makes it a point to find fellow veterans and thank them for their service—a small gesture recognizing their commitment.
