OJJDP released a new?Data Snapshot?on major depressive episodes (MDE) among youth. The?snapshot?draws on data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. The data show one in five youth ages 12–17 experienced an MDE in 2022.? A study just published in the Journal of Adolescent health found that from 2016 to 2021, substance-related ER visits among young people aged 12-21 increased by 47.9% and increased across all ages, demographics, regions, and payors. https://lnkd.in/eg2m8Vay

WellScreen works with child welfare agencies to implement SBIRT in order to identify caregivers who are struggling with high-risk or dependent substance use and connect them with education, counseling, or treatment resources. This article demonstrates the ongoing impact of opioid overdoses on children. "In this cross-sectional study from 2011 to 2021, an estimated 321?566 community-dwelling children in the US lost a parent aged 18 to 64 years to drug overdose, and the rate of children who lost a parent to overdose increased during this period. In 2021, the highest rate was found among non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native individuals." https://lnkd.in/eTnPzpSs
