We're still on a gratitude overflow from our September panel discussion regarding “International Travel and Study Abroad for Black Male Youth - Overseas Career Opportunities.” We organized this third panel discussion to focus the conversation on international career and technical opportunities for Black male youth. Despite the overwhelming data that shows the benefits of participation in international programs for personal, academic and professional success, the low participation numbers of Black male youth has remained largely unchanged over the last two decades. The panel discussion was a powerful one full of insight, information and inspiration. Youth and adults from around the world joined the conversation to share their questions, insights and stories about international travel and working overseas. The moderator was Anthony Fleet, WIF board member. The panelists were: * JeRayle Franklin, Corporate and executive recruitment professional, * Jarahn H. (Hillsman), U.S. diplomat, and * Dr. Nolton Pattio, equine veterinary surgeon and Official Veterinarian for Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, Del Mar, CA You’re invited to take a moment and enjoy this brief video recap of the highlights.

In this month’s What’s Up @ WIF series, we are focusing our celebration energy on the one-year anniversary of WIF’s International Business Women’s Day Awards Luncheon and the power of multi-generation mentoring. Our theme was “Plant the Seed, Nurture the Girl, Grow the Future” and we celebrated women who 1) are recognized as being successful in their fields and 2) nurture girls and young women who look to achieve their own dreams of the future. The awards luncheon honored women business leaders who MENTOR – women who are thriving in business and whose living legacy includes actively supporting the youth who will become the women leaders of tomorrow. As part of our one-year anniversary celebration and remembrance of this beautiful event, Deborah Harlow met with some of the award recipients to “interview” them on what they’ve been up to over the past year. Here is Deborah’s video with Efrem J., who received the Man of the Year Award: for the man who has used his influence, position, and personal commitment to champion the rights of women and worked to ensure that women are equal partners in all professional and community endeavors. Join us in celebrating Efrem!

Our Summer Giving campaign is about to come to a close and we need your support. While study abroad always involves travel, travel does not necessarily involve study or leaving one’s own country. For many underserved children, teens, and college students, traveling to another state, or even another city within one’s home state, can be a life changing experience. This can be a vital first step in exposing youth to the idea that they can travel and study abroad. The Philadelphia Aviation Project was created to meet this need and here's where we need you. Click on the link and give: https://lnkd.in/gGsz_T-k Be the hero who helps make this life changing experience happen.
