Connecticut is facing a rise in youth behavioral health challenges, including increased youth suicides and a growing demand for mental health and substance use services. The state has implemented several community-based crisis services, including 988/211 crisis lines, Mobile Crisis Intervention, Urgent Crisis Centers (UCCs), and Subacute Crisis Stabilization Centers (SACs), which are aligned with national best practices. These services have shown promising outcomes, such as reduced emergency department visits and improved client satisfaction. However, many of these programs rely on expiring federal ARPA funds, creating a funding gap. To ensure the sustainability of these critical services, the state must secure new, ongoing funding. Recommendations include securing sustainable funding, investing in marketing, and enhancing system infrastructure and training to maintain access, quality, and equity in youth crisis care. Our Mobile Crisis Intervention Services offer an immediate response 24/7 to children and youth ages up to 18 if still enrolled in school, that may be experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
