We were privileged to join Roscoe’s Daughter Inc as we worked together to support recent flood survivors sheltering at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park in Prestonsburg. Wild Thyme provided a hot meal, and we offered coats, but we all were there to let our friends and neighbors that they have ongoing support. As Cortney Caudill, WellCare Supervisor of Community Engagement explains, we are grateful "to just be able to lend a hand to our different community partners like Kate [from Roscoe's Daughter], who are doing the work every day and out here working tirelessly to fulfill needs.” https://lnkd.in/epNGDVUQ

We are grateful for our WellCare team members who continue to support our friends and neighbors recently affected by flooding in our state. We will continue to support communities as they recover.
Cleanup continues across the state nearly three weeks after devastating floods on Valentine’s Day weekend last month. Today, WellCare of Kentucky volunteers were hard at work again, this time in #Pikeville, unloading cleaning supplies we donated to help residents return safely to their homes.?#FloodRelief #centene

Darren Levitz, Senior Director of Member Experience and Health Equity at WellCare of Kentucky, spoke with Becker's Healthcare recently about WellCare's new benefit from Ready. Set. Food! that, per recent pediatric medical recommendations, exposes babies to allergens to prevent the development of food allergies. This new no-cost member benefit no only helps to reduce the likelihood of a potentially life-threating issue, but it also offers access to a broader and more affordable diet that supports a healthier lifestyle. https://lnkd.in/e49QvFDf

Last week WellCare team members gathered in our Hazard and Louisville offices to put together hygiene kits, cleaning supplies, towels, water, and more to deliver to our Eastern Kentucky friends recovering from the impact another devastating flood. Our Eastern Kentucky team members, who live and work in these communities, have gone above and beyond to support their neighbors and we are so proud to have them on our team. #FloodRelief #TeamWellCare #TeamKentucky #KentuckyFloodRelief #Centene

WellCare of Kentucky is proud to partner with Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency (CAA) in Shelbyville to support the health of Kentuckians in our region. Starting in November 2024, WellCare provided funding to Multi-Purpose CAA to help community members in Bullitt, Shelby, and Spencer counties access emergency social services to put them on the path to long-term self-sufficiency. By providing resources to improve social determinants of health, those non-medical factors like housing, transportation, and job stability that impact individual well-being, WellCare and Multi-Purpose CAA are working together to improve the community by improving lives, one person at a time. As Multi-Purpose CAA Executive Director Kim Embrey Hill explains, “WellCare of Kentucky has been a great partner in our work by helping us serve our community in more ways than we could alone. By working together, we have already changed the lives of almost 1,000 neighbors in our region.” https://lnkd.in/ezwKUNeS

THANK YOU to the students and educators at Heritage Park High School for letting us help them celebrate No One Eats Alone Day! We had a great time as they highlighted cultivating kindness, friendship, and connection. Highland Park joined thousands of schools in all 50 states by participating in National No One Eats Alone?, a program created by the nonprofit Beyond Differences to end social isolation and foster a sense of belonging, helping everyone feel welcome and accepted. This initiative is sponsored nationally by the Centene Foundation and, as part of Centene Corporation, WellCare of Kentucky is proud to be part of this program annually. https://lnkd.in/eWz4EPKx

This season of giving has been a wonderful experience for us here at WellCare of Kentucky. We traveled to Louisville, Bowling Green, and Lexington for our Winter Coat Giveway to provide 2,000 coats to anyone who needed them. Kentucky is filled with incredible people, and we are filled with appreciation, hope, and warmth after meeting so many of them. We may have given away the coats, but we were lucky to receive warm thank yous and smiles. A big thank you to the Louisville Free Public Library, HOTEL INC in Bowling Green, and the White Christmas House in Lexington for giving us space for these giveaways. And thank you to Walgreens for providing free vaccinations to anyone who wanted them. There were so many other organizations who helped, including the American Red Cross (Kentucky Region), Goodwill Industries of Kentucky, LOUISVILLE METRO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELLNESS, and Louisville's Coalition for the Homeless. Thank you for helping us make this season warmer for so many. ??
