New Research Spotlight: Holistic Defense in Missouri The WEI research team recently interviewed 18 individuals who were represented by the Missouri State Public Defender (MSPD) system and received support from the Holistic Defense Services Program (HDSP). Their stories provide critical insights into the impact of holistic defense—what worked, what didn’t, and how these services shaped their lives. This Qualitative Spotlight highlights five powerful client interviews, offering a preview of the full findings to be released in Summer 2025. By centering the voices of those directly impacted, we aim to deepen understanding of holistic defense’s role in fostering justice and support beyond the courtroom. ??
