Through gentle prompting and intentional listening we can empower those who normally feel anxious about being asked about employment, relationships and their conditions to confidently talk about what is important to them. ICYMI: The Well Community had an amazing annual Thanksgiving worship service and dinner! We're deeply grateful to all who made it possible! The night began with our weekly Thursday Night Life worship service, with music led by husband and wife team David and Mary, both Well Community members, while member PT played the piano. Big thanks to: - Eric Folkerth, Pastor of Kessler Park United Methodist Church, who played and sang during worship and also provided dinner music. - Kenny Cheshier, Associate Pastor of Cliff Temple Baptist Church, who anointed everyone personally with oil and prayed with members individually, as well as gave the message to the group. - Norma's Cafe, which generously donated a bountiful Thanksgiving feast - Kessler Park United Methodist Church, which donated a variety of desserts and table decorations. - The moms of the Oak Cliff chapter of the Young Men's Service League - YMSL National, who joined us by helping serve our members, then dined with us. We're so thankful for you all!

According to the 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, approximately a third of American adults who lived with a mental illness in 2023—20.4 million adults—also dealt with a substance use disorder. Among those who lived with serious mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and major depression, that percentage was even higher: Nearly half dealt with a substance use disorder. But, though co-occurring disorders are prevalent and life-altering, they’re often misunderstood, and misconceptions about them can prevent those living with them from receiving accurate diagnoses and effective treatment. Our weekly worship service is always followed by dinner, and tonight our members enjoyed a bountiful Thanksgiving feast, generously donated by Norma's Cafe. Kessler Park United Methodist Church donated a variety of desserts and table decorations. After their annual meeting, the moms of the Young Men's Service League - YMSL National Oak Cliff Chapter joined us by helping serve our members, then dined with us. These moms and their sons volunteer year round at many nonprofit organizations, including the Well. Weekly, they help serve then clean up after the worship service while spending time with our members. By giving of themselves, they're blessing our members with friendship. We're so grateful for all who helped to make this evening so special!

Once again, our Fall Spiritual Retreat was a great time to rest and reflect. From making leaf collections to roasting marshmallows to our traditional hayride and bonfire, members of the Well Community enjoyed the autumn temperatures and warm fellowship.
