WSM attended the 2024 State of the Judiciary Luncheon. This year’s luncheon featured distinguished keynote speakers The Honorable Penney S. Azcarate, Chief Judge, Fairfax County Circuit Court, The Honorable Michael J. Holleran, Chief Judge, Fairfax County General District Court, and The Honorable Thomas P. Sotelo, Chief Judge, Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court.

WSM and attorney Tom Walsh from Petrovich & Walsh PLC recovered a 2.75 settlement against a negligent construction company for the wrongful death of a woman. The woman was driving on an interstate at night when her car collided with a construction truck that was parked in an active lane of traffic without warning lights or signage. The construction vehicle appeared pitch black on the road to oncoming drivers as it was parked in the middle of a 7-lane highway. The attorneys negotiated a 2.75 million dollar settlement for the wrongful death of this client.

Congratulations to the WSM team for this huge achievement. WSM won a 2.5 million dollar verdict against two doctors for professional negligence. The patient in this case underwent a non-invasive hysterectomy that resulted in life altering injuries. During the surgery, the Defendant gynecologist was responsible for negligently cutting the patient’s external iliac artery. Following the cut, the artery was ligated, stopping all blood flow to the patient’s lower limb. The Defendant vascular surgeon failed to recognize what artery was injured or ligated and that the patient had severely compromised blood flow to her lower limb. The surgeons allowed the patient to be sent to recovery in a dangerous condition. As a result, the patient suffered massive uncontrollable bleeding, a cardiac arrest, permanent limb death, nerve damage, and more. After a three week trial, the jury concluded these doctors were negligent and violated the standard of care. They awarded this patient 2.5 million dollars.

These boys were victims of the ghost gun industry. We hope this settlement is a step forward towards change and safety.
