Building a Virginia where every Voice is Heard

关于我们

The Virginia Civic Engagement Table strengthens and connects Virginia’s progressive nonprofit organizations and activists and acts as a hub for the larger progressive community. We believe our Commonwealth works best when every voice is heard. We envision a multi-racial democracy in Virginia where the full diversity of the commonwealth is actively participating, representing, and transforming our democracy. Where white supremacy is being actively dismantled, people of color, working families, and impacted communities are thriving in a just economy and leading healthy lives. We work towards our vision by cultivating diverse progressive leadership, driving collaboration through equitable and inclusive relationships, moving collective action in the progressive movement, and growing shared capacity and resources for the progressive movement infrastructure.

  • Let’s make our voices heard, Virginia! Both Democratic and Republican governors have chosen to restore voting rights to thousands of citizens; however, Virginia's current governor has reversed the trend. People should not be permanently defined by their past mistakes. Virginians who have successfully served their time should be able to fully rejoin civic life. It is time for Virginians to act to amend our Constitution to create a routine restoration process that reflects fair accountability and encourages civic engagement. We need individuals to show up in Richmond to the House Privileges and Elections Hearing on November 13, 2024, General Assembly Building Room 206, for their 11am hearing in support of Constitutional Amendment HJ2.

  • Governor Youngkin’s Executive Order 35 removed over 1,600 eligible Virginians from voter rolls, threatening their right to vote. This decision undermines democracy just days before the election. • VCET is deeply disappointed by the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to allow Virginia to remove thousands of eligible people from its voter rolls. Removing voters from the rolls in the week before the election based on lies about citizenship and voting is nothing more than intimidation. We believe this is a step backward for fair and inclusive democratic participation in Virginia and stand to defend every eligible voter’s freedom to vote without fear or obstruction.
