??We had a great time at Runnin' O' the Green this past weekend! Participants showed up in their best St. Patrick's Day attire, braved the rain, and tackled the 5K and 8K courses with enthusiasm. A huge thank you to Team WECU for volunteering at monitoring stations throughout the course and refueling and cheering on participants at the finish line!
We are head over heels in love with our community. We think it is the best place to put down roots, find adventure, and be part of a community that genuinely cares. Here are four signs to detect a scam and help you stay safe during Consumer Protection Week! 1?? Someone You Know: Scammers may impersonate friends, family, or businesses to gain your trust. Verify their identity before acting on any requests! 2?? Pressure Tactics: If someone is rushing you to make a decision quickly, take a step back. Scammers often push for quick action to prevent you from thinking clearly. 3?? There’s a Problem or Prize: Whether it's an urgent problem with your account or an unexpected prize, be cautious. Scammers often create fake emergencies to trick you into paying. 4?? Must Pay in a Specific Way: If they insist on payment through unusual methods (gift cards, wire transfers, Bitcoin, etc.), it's likely a scam. Always choose secure payment options! Stay vigilant and protect your personal information.
??Now through March 31, we're collecting donations of formula, squeezable or plastic-container baby food, diapers, and wipes to support local families in need. These donations are crucial for the 30% of Whatcom County food bank clients that are children or infants. Monetary donations are also welcome and can be made directly at any of WECU's Financial Centers. All donations will benefit Whatcom and Skagit food banks.
For over 20 years, Laurie Reynolds has opened her home to those in need. What started as a small act of kindness has grown into a beautiful tradition of providing shelter and support. From a partially finished garage to a stunning ADU, Laurie’s journey is a testament to the power of community and compassion. With the help of Real Estate Loan Officer Michelle Clemens and WECU to secure a HELOC, she transformed her space into a haven for many more to enjoy.
