Big news! Our client was awarded a retail license in Covina at last night’s city council meeting! Last night the City Council of the City of Covina voted to award one of the three cannabis retail permits to Rilano Inc. We will now begin the process of our CUP Application and building out the store. It's been a long haul to get to this point. Henry Casillas, Jian Barazi, Bernardina Howard and I have been working toward this result for almost 4.5 years. Also thanks to our Board Member, John Brittain IV, CIC for your help and friendship. I am very proud of our team and this success. Congrats to Rilano Inc.

I’m curious, has anyone successfully had a client’s bid accepted in a cannabis receivership listing when not directly connected to the firm handling the process? Or do these opportunities tend to favor a specific pool of buyers? Each time I come across one of these listings, I consider engaging on the buy side, but after multiple attempts without success, I’m starting to question whether these bidding processes are truly open and competitive. If external buyers rarely, if ever, have their offers accepted, is the process genuinely structured to maximize value for debt holders, or is it primarily benefiting a select group? I know that for any receivership listings we handle, we actively co-operate with outside brokers to ensure broad market exposure. But I can’t say I’ve had the same experience with other firms managing these types of sales. Would love to hear insights from others who have navigated this space. Have you seen different outcomes??
