Water- en Energiebedrijf Bonaire N.V. (WEB) was founded in 1963 and is owned by the Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB). WEB is responsible for the sustainable, reliable and affordable supply of drinking water and electricity on Bonaire. We are working for over 20,000 households, companies and organizations on the island. Bonaire is developing rapidly. The population is growing, tourism is developing. WEB invests a great deal to secure an appropriate level of the energy and drinking water supply. That also implies: contributing to the sustainable development of the island. Therefore Bonaire invests in ‘green energy’: energy from renewable sources, such as wind, sun and algae, with the use of the best technology. WEB has also extended the collection and treatment of wastewater and the distribution of irrigation water. In 2021 WEB will independently be producing drinking water. The team of WEB currently consists of 146 employees. They are working together at the water and energy company from and for the community of Bonaire: ‘Let’s do it together’.

DUTCH DEFENSE AND WEB BONAIRE STRENGHTEN COOPERATION FOR EFFECTIVE CRISIS AND DISASTER RESPONSE Kralendijk, August 23, 2024 – A Dutch Defense delegation recently visited Water- en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) to enhance collaboration and improve joint responses during potential disasters and crises. During a tour of the WEB Bonaire water production plant, Dutch Defense representatives discussed operational processes and emergency procedures with the island's water professionals. This exchange aimed to increase the Defense's knowledge and readiness for emergency situations on Bonaire. Following the plant visit, a WEB Bonaire delegation reciprocated by touring the Zr. Ms. Pelikaan. Onboard, WEB employees learned about the vessel's various facilities, including a small reverse osmosis plant capable of providing drinking water for the crew and assisting with disaster relief efforts. Discussions focused on how the Zr. Ms. Pelikaan could support Bonaire during crises and the specific forms of assistance the Defense could offer. The working visit underscores the joint commitment of the Dutch Defense and WEB Bonaire to ensuring the safety and continuity of water and energy supply on the island. Through close cooperation and thorough preparation, both parties aim for an effective and well-coordinated response to disasters or crises.

The expansion of the Bonaire drinking water plant is on schedule. The installation of the Multia Media Filter, SWROs, BWROs and Post Treatment started in mid to early December 2023. Meanwhile, dozens of containers have been unloaded and the various items have been placed in place using telescopic cranes. Further assembly, electrical installation, Piping, PLC programming, SCADA automation. Then commissioning and performance testing. On 22 May 2024 we can (maybe) sit back and relax.
