WellPower is the national leader in redefining the way mental health is addressed in our community. As a private, not-for-profit community mental health center, we strive to create a supportive, inclusive environment that helps people flourish. Our work focuses on the strengths and well-being of the people we serve. Last year, we provided treatment, prevention, outreach and crisis services to more than 70,000 children, families and adults in Denver. WellPower has been recognized as one of the Denver Post’s Top Workplaces for the past ten years. WellPower’s approach to services reflects a deep understanding of the social determinants of health, from the food security provided at our Resource Center to the housing we have built at Sanderson Apartments. We work to instill this understanding in our elected officials and prioritize a breadth of legislative issues in our advocacy work. From housing to education to food security, we support legislation that impacts people we serve as whole individuals.

Current narratives suggest that homelessness and housing crises are unsolvable problems. WellPower disagrees. Sheridan on 10th is a three-story, supportive housing apartment building in Denver’s Villa Park Neighborhood. The building consists of 60 one-bedroom and one-bath units for chronically unhoused individuals. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gsQCaEXd

How does WellPower do this work? WellPower’s policy team is engaged with the Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health and the Colorado Language Access Coalition, and supports the work of these organizations through information sharing and legislative advocacy. Currently, our policy team is working with the state to improve the accessibility and information privacy of the Peak Portal’s BHA Community Services Funding application for immigrant communities.

"To someone in a place like mine back at the beginning of my journey, I’d say this: Everyone deserves to know that it can get better. I’d never promise someone that it will get better – no one can make that promise for sure – but I’ll tell you that it can." - Kitty Read more from Kitty's story here: https://bit.ly/3ETP30d

Welcome back to WellPower's Legislative Priorities series, where we take you through what we're focused on as an organization in the 2025 legislative session. Thanks to the advocacy of many organizations, including WellPower, the state applied for and received a federal planning grant for the development of a CCBHC program in Colorado. The full realization of the CCBHC program in our state will mean a critical financial infusion for the social safety net, through an enhanced Medicaid match and prospective payment system. WellPower is closely monitoring the development of the CCBHC program, providing input to the state, and speaking with legislators about the importance of this funding.
