November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance and we encourage you to take a moment to remember and uplift the memory of those who have lost their lives due to anti-transgender violence. Trans folks experience sexual and intimate partner violence at a very high rate due to transphobia, lack of societal support, and marginalization. This past weekend, VALOR staff attended TransLatin@ Coalition's Annual Garra Gala to celebrate their 15th anniversary and reaffirm our commitment to structural change and support for transgender folks. VALOR stands with the transgender community and survivors, advocates, and organizations working to dismantle the systems that allow violence to continue. Take time to connect with partners in your community who are taking part in this conversation and engaging in preventing anti-transgender violence.

ValorUS (VALOR) is a national organization committed to advancing equity and ending sexual violence. Since our founding in 1980, we have continued to build dynamic relationships across a diverse range of communities, institutions and systems, and mobilize our network of survivors and advocates to influence change. Through leadership, prevention, and advocacy, we are fearlessly pursuing a world free from violence where the dignity of every person is valued and respected. VALOR is California’s state sexual assault coalition. We advocate on behalf of a strong network of advocates, crisis professionals, volunteers and community partners that make up California’s safety net for survivors of sexual violence. Formerly the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault, ValorCalifornia promotes policies and practices that will prevent sexual violence in California, provide support and healing for survivors, and transform institutions and systems across the state.

NEW PODCAST DROP! As the field of prevention has grown, we have distinguished ourselves from direct service so much that it can sometimes feel like we are entirely separate movements. For this episode of preventconnect, we're exploring the connections between advocacy and prevention through a decades-long friendship, between Ashleigh Klein-Jimenez and Giovanna Martinez, that breaks the silhos we often find ourselves in. (Part 2) See below for more information on Project 2025's destructive plan to reshape America's future. ????Economy Project 2025 proposes cutting the American Rescue Plan, which created or saved 220,000 jobs. It also seeks to eliminate overtime protections for 4.3 million workers, limit food assistance for 40 million Americans, relax worker safety rules, and remove restrictions on children working in dangerous jobs. Additionally, the plan aims to abolish the Capital Investment Grant program, which supports public transportation in communities. ???Healthcare Project 2025 calls for repealing the $35 monthly cap on insulin for Medicare and the $2,000 annual out-of-pocket limit. It proposes a lifetime cap on Medicaid, potentially limiting coverage to 36 months, ends the federal government’s ability to negotiate drug prices, and reduces the number of health conditions that qualify veterans for benefits. ???Education Project 2025 calls for dismantling the Department of Education, increasing public funding for private and religious schools, and repealing Title IX protections for students. It also denies student loans in 25 states and the District of Columbia to students whose schools offer in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants. It also proposes reducing the number of students eligible for free school meals. ???Climate Change Project 2025 takes a skeptical approach to climate change, proposing to dismantle key federal programs that support clean energy innovation and environmental protection. It seeks to cut financing for initiatives like clean energy demonstration projects, which could significantly increase greenhouse gas emissions and reverse progress on reducing climate impacts. Critics warn that this would hinder efforts to address extreme weather events and public health risks tied to climate change, while reducing the U.S.'s ability to compete in the global clean energy sector ??Civil Rights and Racial Equity Project 2025 calls for cutting DEI and LGBTQ+ programs in healthcare, education, and workplaces. It proposes ending the use of "disparate impact" in discrimination cases under Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Fair Housing Act. The plan also seeks to repeal sexual orientation and gender identity nondiscrimination conditions on adoption and foster care grants, dismantle USAID's DEI structure, eliminate the Chief Diversity Officer position, and end EEO-1 data collection on workforce racial diversity. ????????Gender Identity/LGBTQIA+ Rights Project 2025 calls on the Department of Health and Human Services to define men and women as biological realities and to define "sex" under Title IX as only biological sex at birth. It seeks to restrict access to gender-affirming care and surgeries for veterans and Medicare recipients, and rescind regulations that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, and sex characteristics. #Project2025 #2024Elections?#VotingMatters #IVAT?

(Part 1) Project 2025 outlines sweeping reforms across key areas like immigration, education, healthcare, and civil rights. From restructuring government agencies to shifting policies on reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ protections, the plan proposes significant changes that could reshape America's future. Stay informed about how these proposals may impact communities nationwide.? Read more below?? ???????Definition of Family Project 2025 defines natural marriage as between one man and one woman, calls for the immediate elimination of the White House Gender Policy Council, and aims to reverse the Biden Administration's focus on LGBTQ+ equity. It seeks to replace policies that subsidize single motherhood and disincentivize work and marriage with ones that encourage marriage, work, and strong nuclear families. ?????Reproductive Rights Project 2025 calls for banning the abortion drug Mifepristone entirely or limiting its use to the first 7 weeks of pregnancy. It advocates enforcing the Comstock Act, which would ban mailing Mifepristone nationwide, even in states where abortion remains legal. The plan also seeks to withdraw HIPAA protections for abortion-related medical records and refers to life-saving care as a violation of respect for human life, opposing the view of abortion as health care. ??Justice Project 2025 aims to stop FBI agents from monitoring social media to flag “misinformation” or “disinformation” for removal by platforms. It seeks to prevent the FBI from engaging in activities related to Americans creating or spreading false information and halt the agency’s focus on prosecuting misdemeanor trespassing or FACE Act violations, while “dismissing prosecutions of groups like Antifa.” ???Immigration Reform Project 2025 calls for dismantling the Department of Homeland Security, removing the ban on apprehending migrants in sensitive areas like churches and schools, and deploying the military to assist with border arrests. It also advocates for building a border wall, eliminating T and U visas, and ending chain migration to focus on the nuclear family. ???Public Safety Project 2025 proposes eliminating the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which provides critical services like daily weather forecasts and severe storm warnings. It also seeks to reduce the criteria for revoking security clearances, increasing the risk of politicization, while expediting clearances for those deemed essential to the administration’s “mission needs.” #Project2025 #2024Elections?#VotingMatters #IVAT?
