Congratulations to our Senior Vice President of Economic Initiatives Laura V. Arce for joining Airbnb’s Housing Council! Laura’s experience will be a valuable asset as she collaborates with industry leaders to help Airbnb partner with communities to address housing challenges. Homeownership is the single greatest driver of wealth in this country, and we’ve seen firsthand how empowering Latino families with the tools to achieve it can foster lasting financial resilience. Joining the Airbnb Housing Council is an incredible opportunity to further our shared goal of expanding access to affordable homeownership, especially for underserved communities. We look forward to working with colleagues and partners to create more equitable housing opportunities for families nationwide. 关于我们
We are UnidosUS, the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, formerly known as the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). Our mission is to build a stronger America by creating opportunities for the Latino community. To achieve this, we conduct applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in key areas such as civil rights and immigration, education, health, housing & financial empowerment, racial equity, voting & political empowerment, and workforce development. Through #AffiliatesUnidos, our network of affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), we reach millions of Latinos each year across the United States and Puerto Rico. We provide our Affiliates with capacity-building assistance to improve their work at the state and local level to advance opportunities for individuals and families.

Did you know? Macario García was the first Mexican American to be awarded the Medal of Honor, the country’s highest military decoration. Born to Mexican farmworkers in Texas, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. Wounded during the invasion of Normandy, he continued to serve his country with courage and resilience. After returning home, he was denied service at a Texas café, sparking national outrage over the discrimination faced by Latinos. Macario’s is one of many powerful Latino stories included in the high school lesson plans we created with The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. As we honor Veterans Day, let’s also pay tribute to heroes like Macario by ensuring that #LatinoHistory is included in U.S. history books across the country.
