关于我们

We are UnidosUS, the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, formerly known as the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). Our mission is to build a stronger America by creating opportunities for the Latino community. To achieve this, we conduct applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in key areas such as civil rights and immigration, education, health, housing & financial empowerment, racial equity, voting & political empowerment, and workforce development. Through #AffiliatesUnidos, our network of affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), we reach millions of Latinos each year across the United States and Puerto Rico. We provide our Affiliates with capacity-building assistance to improve their work at the state and local level to advance opportunities for individuals and families.

From 1942 to 1964, the Bracero Program brought over four million Mexican laborers to the U.S., playing a crucial role in sustaining the nation's agriculture during and after World War II. Despite facing harsh working conditions and discrimination, these workers' perseverance and contributions shaped the agricultural industry, yet their story remains largely untold. Today, a monument in El Paso, Texas, stands in their honor, commemorating the essential workers who helped feed and clothe Americans in times of crisis. To ensure this vital history is taught during #HispanicHeritageMonth and all year around, in partnership with The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, we have developed lesson plans to bring the history of Latino immigration into classrooms across the U.S. These lessons, aligned with Common Core State Standards, provide students with valuable insights into the immigrant experience and a fuller understanding of Latino contributions to American history. Latinos in Nevada have made strides in health coverage, thanks to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). However,?there's more work to be done to ensure all Latinos have the quality, affordable coverage they deserve. Recently, we gathered with #AffiliatesUnidos and key partners, including Neera Tanden,?White House Domestic Policy?Advisor, and Dr. Jeffrey Reynoso, Regional Director for U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to discuss solutions. From simplifying enrollment to funding community organizations to help families obtain and retain health coverage, we’re advocating for policy changes that ensure every Latino in Nevada gets the health?care they need. At the meeting, Ms. Tanden announced a new?data?from HHS finding that the number of Latinos?buying their own?health?coverage?in the ACA marketplace has tripled since the Biden-Harris Administration took office, rising from 1.5 million in 2020 to 5 million in 2024. This unprecedented progress resulted from history’s greatest funding for community navigators and from temporarily enhanced Premium Tax Credits that made it much more affordable for people to buy health coverage. To prevent millions of Latinos from losing health coverage, funding for community navigators must continue and grow, and enhanced Premium Tax Credits must not be allowed to expire next year. Together, we are building Latino power to protect the community’s recent gains and ensure affordable healthcare for all. Latinas are essential to the U.S. workforce, but the wage gap keeps holding them back. On average, Latinas make just 58 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men. This isn’t just a number—this gap means lost opportunities for families, communities, and the economy. Equal pay can’t wait! Nina Otero-Warren, a trailblazer for women's suffrage and Latino empowerment, was the first Hispanic woman to run for U.S. Congress and the first female superintendent of public schools in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She recognized the power of language in the fight for equality, leading efforts to secure voting rights by ensuring that suffrage materials were available in both English and Spanish, allowing Latinos to participate in shaping their future. Her legacy as a defender of bicultural education and a trailblazer for Hispanic and Native American communities lives on today as we continue to fight for equal rights and representation. Learn more about her legacy and why it’s vital to share her story in classrooms across the country here: https://lnkd.in/e-9mH9NJ #UnidosUS #HispanicHeritageMonth #HHM

Lack of affordable housing shouldn’t hinder a family’s chance to own a home. That’s why for over 50 years we’ve advocated for our community to access the economic mobility that housing provides. Take a look at the impact we’ve had since we launched our #UnidosUSHOME initiative to create 4 million new Hispanic homeowners by 2030?? #UnidosUS
