Another day, another update from Meta claiming to "protect teens." While we appreciate the effort to offer teens tools to “shape their Instagram experience,” let’s be real: it’s not enough. Meta’s latest fix continues to put the burden of safety on?users—while the design of its?platform?are?predatory algorithms. Should children really be expected to outsmart a system?designed to addict? This is exactly why we need the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) to pass. It’s time to hold Big Tech accountable for creating platforms that are safe by design, not just patched up after the fact. Our kids deserve better than “optional” safety. Urge your lawmakers to pass KOSA now by filling out MAMA's one-click form. Link below in comments! https://lnkd.in/eDnakpPX

Keeping kids safe online is such a no-brainer that the Kids Online Safety Act passed in the Senate with bipartisan support, 91-3. Now, KOSA has 64 bipartisan co-sponsors in the House. Surely Meta’s big new data center in Louisiana won’t stop LA leaders like Speaker Johnson and Rep. Scalise from doing right by the families in their state—and the nation?—and passing KOSA by the end of the year?? Right?? https://lnkd.in/gaSF6Xxw

The New York Children's Online Safety Act is the kind of common sense solution we need to protect kids?on gaming and social media platforms. Parents cannot possibly bear the entire responsibility of keeping kids safe online because the problems are baked into the design of the products. Requiring open chat functions to be turned off?by default?takes the onus off of parents and puts it where it should be – on tech product designers. https://lnkd.in/gWKb8dF7

Op-ed: NJ Rep. Mikie Sherrill underscores the urgency of passing KOSA, calling on Congress to modernize outdated internet laws and protect the next generation from the damaging effects of social media. Our kids are facing a mental health crisis, and social media is making it worse. Rep. Sherrill is right: Congress must pass the Kids Online Safety Act NOW. https://lnkd.in/e5_xscf6

31 state attorneys general signed a powerful bipartisan letter calling on the House to pass the Senate version of #KOSA. The Kids Online Safety Act is the bare minimum we can pass to protect our children from the horrors that await them on?social media?networks (self-harm content recommendations, filter bubbles, sexual predators from the entire world,?social?comparison, perfectionism, 24/7 connectivity, the opportunity cost from spending 9 hours a day on screens)?—?and there are only a few weeks left for Congress to act. Please click the link below to contact your representative and ask them to vote for the Senate version of KOSA. We can do this if we act together: ? https://lnkd.in/eZNT7MC3
