Here for the Impact Uprising ? Co-Founder + CEO, We Are For Good / Podcaster / Keynote Speaker / Creative Entrepreneur

Do you still believe better is possible? We've been in convo with some amazing humans this season who are continually giving me hope + opening new perspectives. Sharing one here ?? Below, I'm lifting a few lines from our recent interview with Ami Dar. He’s the founder of Idealist.org + happens to be an idealist himself. (Shocker right? Truth in advertising, folks. ?? ) But I asked Ami how he keeps his sense of idealism alive when the world feels crushing a lot of days... And here’s what he said. Dang it’s good. Hang on until the end.? And find your hope too. ?? Me: Ami, how do you continue to stay connected to your own sense of idealism when the world feels so painful, so divided most days? Ami: You know, I don't know that I have a choice… I think that in my case, it's like asking a writer, why do you write? It's just I can't imagine myself being different. Some days are very hard. But then what's the alternative? To become just an angry cynic? I'd rather be dead. In the end, you revert back to hope.? I can't live any other way… And, I mean, I can be very cynical. I can tell cynical jokes. I can be cynical at moments. But to stop believing the better is possible? Yeah, then what will be the point? Plus, I think almost all of us, we know that better is possible for two really important reasons that I think most of us have seen in our lives. We have seen… a school get better, a street get better, a town get better, a park get better. We can extrapolate from that, right? And so we can say, Well, wait, if one school can get better, Why can't every school get better, right? Like we could do that. And then the other thing, is that most of us, not all of us, but I think most of us, have experienced being part of a group of people. A team that has been sort of unleashed to do something awesome together. And we've had that experience. Doing something awesome, even just for an hour. And so again, we can extrapolate. If we can do that once, why can't we do awesome things all the time? So yes, of course we can. And you see it. You see, I think people tend to focus on bad things. But I think that several years ago, when Bloomberg was mayor of New York, he had, the guts to come out and say, people will no longer be allowed to smoke in bars and restaurants. And they were like, you're crazy. And he did it. And now, all over the world, you go to a bar or restaurant, many places, and people don't smoke anymore, and it's awesome. And that changed, right? So, of course, change is possible. We just need to focus on also what's good. The news tends to focus on what's bad, taking us down. But we need to look around. There's so much beauty. There's so much good. /// So good, right? Don’t miss the full interview with Ami on the We Are For Good podcast - I’ll link it up in the comments in case you missed it. ? #hope #changeispossible #idealism
