As I wrote this story on gamified restaurant loyalty programs for The Food Institute, I realized that gamification is a common thread connecting my interests, expertise, and experience. I'm a huge cognitive psychology nerd, for one, and I was a teacher, e-learning technical writer, and marketing copywriter before I began writing and editing food industry content full-time. My husband is also a game developer (among other things), so I've learned a lot about game theory in the last few years, which I find super interesting. As a result, this piece was a blast to write. It's awesome to see restaurants waking up to the power of gamification, a strategy that can supercharge motivation, engagement, and retention like no other while also making interactions feel more fun and rewarding!
