Bay FC players recently represented the Club at the annual San Jose Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, hosted by the San Jose Sports Authority in honor of South Bay sports legends. Four new members were inducted in the Class of 2024, including the late John Arrillaga, Robert Guerrero, Mike Holmgren, and Kerri Walsh Jennings. Club Founders Aly Wagner, Brandi Chastain and Danielle Slaton have previously received the honor, and we hope to see more Bay FC representation join those ranks in the future!

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in the Bay FC organization and all of our fans for an unforgettable inaugural season. Although our maiden voyage in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) has come to an end, we have made an undoubtable mark in this league and beyond. Our record-breaking 11 wins made us only the second ever expansion franchise to reach the postseason. Our historic quarterfinal match against second-seed Washington Spirit came down to the wire, with Asisat Oshoala scoring the Club’s first ever playoff goal in the 82rd minute after an assist from Penelope Hocking. We fought hard until the very last minute of extra time. Our expansion team roster came with several notable mentions. Our signing of Zambian International Racheal Kundananji made her the most expensive player in women's football. Since Abby Dahlkemper joined the Club in August, she has been named to the #NWSL Team of the Month for 3 consecutive times. Our first round Draft Pick Savy King represented the US in this summer’s U-20 World Cup, while defender Alyssa Malonson got her first cap for the USWNT in the recent international window. Bay FC excelled off the pitch as well. The club ranked among the league’s top teams with an average regular season attendance of over 13,000 fans per game and led the NWSL in merchandise sales. We made ambitious moves, including hosting championship-winning FC Barcelona for a world-class international friendly, as well as announcing plans for a state-of-the-art training facility on Treasure Island. We have built a deeply engaged community base and digital audience, with nearly 10,000 season ticket members, 75 community partners, and 387K followers across platforms. We cannot wait to continue our pursuit of becoming a top team in the country and around the world in both business and on-field performance!

Bay FC is playing in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) playoffs this weekend, only the second expansion franchise in league history to make the postseason in its first year. ? Less than 18 months ago, we announced Sixth Street’s $125 million investment to co-found the club. Sixth Street is the first institutional investment firm to build a top tier U.S. pro sports franchise from the ground up. ? The Bay FC team has accomplished so much in that short amount of time: the infrastructure, the brand (Bay FC is already the most followed NWSL team on Tik Tok), the sales and marketing operation…our front office and training staff have all done a remarkable job. ? We’ve been amazed by the athletes who have come from around the world to embrace and be embraced by the #BayArea community. Their talent, heart, and dedication has been an inspiration to me and to our firm, and Sixth Street will be cheering them on not just this weekend but for many years to come.?? ? We said from the beginning that in this first year the most important thing was building a One Team culture.?And so?-- whatever happens from here -- we’re most proud of how the entire organization has come together, not focused on any one individual’s achievements but dedicated to celebrating the success of those around them. ? Let’s go. #BLegendary. ? --- Bay FC @ Washington Spirit, Sunday, 9:30am PT / 12:30pm ET, national broadcast on ABC

During a visit to London for the Leaders in Sport conference, I got to chat with Charlie Stebbings and Harry Stebbings about all things Bay FC business. Thanks for the fun and insightful conversation.
Welcome to the biggest private equity investment in women’s sport ?? When Sixth Street committed $120m to establish the newest National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchise Bay FC, it was the first time the league had taken PE cash. Why did this matter? Well it showed an institutional recognition of the potential value to be had in women’s football…at a big price. It was then the small task of getting a business established and team on the pitch in a year! That responsibility fell to CEO Brady Stewart. Now the focus shifts; it’s about building independent billion dollar women’s sports brands. Salary caps, building new stadiums, media deals, branded corners (??), attracting the best talent…some things you can influence, others are beyond your control. But the philosophy is clear. ??? “You really need the rising tide lifts all boats. If you have only a couple of winners, the sport won’t thrive” A masterclass in building a sports team from scratch ?? N.B. The stash is pretty great? Bay FC have successfully clinched a spot in the 2024 NWSL Playoffs! Not only are we only the second expansion franchise to have achieved such a feat in their inaugural season, we have also broken the record for the most number of wins an expansion team has tallied in a regular season. Incredibly proud of our achievements so far, but we are not finished yet! Our quarter final match against the Washington Spirit kicks off next Sunday, 9:30AM PT. #BayFC #BLegendary | National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
